Beg to differ. There ain't a stock ecoboost on the planet that can keep up with a 5.7 Tundra. Ain't gonna happen ever.

My brother has a new Eco Boost, we happened to get up front side by side at a light on the way home from work a few months ago on Davis and had us a little drag race. The Eco Boost hung in there pretty good, I took him with my 5.7L but not by as much as I thought I would.

Run the race with boats on the back and that 5.7 would leave the whining ecoboost in the dust. grin

To me a truck is for towing stuff. I care how it tows. Gas mileage is somewhere down below what rims it has. Give me a straight V8 and a solid drive train and I'm in. I'd do diesel but I'm not a hardcore hauler. Aluminum bodies and turbocharged minitruck engines tweaked out to the edge of capability are just not enticing to me. If I want better gas mileage I'll buy a car.

That's cute, but they have tested them empty and loaded same load same course same everything like a standardized test and the ecoboost beats the tundra every time.

So rather than buying a truck that can tow and get good gas mileage, you'll buy a truck to tow and a separate car to save money? Just because your "view" of the purpose of the tool?

confused

My dad's 2013 Tundra has the 5.7L and it was surprisingly slow given the specs and the rear end.

If I want to drive fast, I'll get a car though. When considering which truck to buy, speed is somewhere down below what color the floor boards are. I want to know if it can do the jobs I need it to and how little gas it needs to do those jobs. Everyone is far too big of a hurry when we're quoting 0-60 times on half ton trucks.

Didn't work though it still blew up... twice

I haven't decided if you're for real or not but if your mechanic believes the engine is sucking the cat, you might want to switch shops to avoid a 3rd blowup.
