Yea. Once the sun came up it's as bad as Houston here. Not the same number of people flooded because Houston is so much bigger but it's really bad. The whole area is trapped for now. They said I-10 east is flooding also which was the only way out.Going to take quite a while to recover from this. Thankfully it's Texas. Everybody just jumps right in and helps everybody. We will get it all back going soon enough
I didn't mean to leave CC, Rockport Port A area out. I know they need help also.

UPDATE: The Tomball Lone Star College is about to receive 60+ people from surrounding shelters that were told to shut down. Call before you come.

Look at all of these empty beds! We know that other shelters have been completely overwhelmed so please share this and send people to Lone Star college off of 249!

With there being a hurricane, could there not be an argument made that the initial damage was caused because of that, that caused openings that allowed the flooding to happen?

I've got a bunch of cousins that evacuated from Houston last week, they have no idea what their houses look like, and don't have flood insurance.

no way

Nope. I remember listening to my sister going on about the subject. If they have no insurance, CALL FEMA!!! If they're displaced and need lodging, call FEMA. If they're in hotels and paying for them, call FEMA. This is your first resource to reach out to.

Registering online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov, is the quickest way to register for FEMA assistance since the event will last several days and the full scope of damages may not be evident until the storm has passed. If you are unable to access the internet, you can also call at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).

I learned two things about FEMA after Ike. First, the most dangerous place to be after the hurricane was between a FEMA executive and a television camera. Second, they must own more blue tarps than anyone in the world. Past that, they seemed pretty useless.

The only dam I am aware of on the Neches is on Dam B. Two lakes in the Forest Lakes Sub division in Woodville just broke about an hour ago.

US 190 East from Tyler County Line toward Jasper is closed. US HWY 69 from Tyler county line south is close. Please tell me where this dam is.

Yes you can trust the Government, just ask the Indians.

Here's everything I have.

Tyler County Emergency Management
29 mins

The Tyler County Judge, Jacques Blanchette, has been advised that several private lakes in and around Woodville have failed and anyone living near or downstream from the Forest Lakes Subdivision should be prepared for elevated water levels due to the failure of their dams. Additionally, the Corp of Engineers has advised the Office of Emergency Mangement that elevatons of the Neches River will rise to an anticipated eighty two feet. This level will pose a probable flooding of Hwy 92 South of Town Bluff toward Spurger. Individuals living along this area who have not already evacuated are strongly encouraged to seek higher ground. The Red Cross has opened an emergency shelter at the United Methodist Church in Woodville. Additional shelters are being planned for residence who will experience long term needs. Power outages have occurred in the City of Chester, as well as the towns of Spurger and Warren. Both SHECO and Entergy are moving workers into those affected areas as soon as roadways are safe.

I'm still trying to find which emergency page had posted the dam failure.

From US Army Corps of Engineers
Hurricane Harvey impacts operations at District lakes

FORT WORTH, Texas The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District officials announce today the expectation of historic discharge amounts at B.A. Steinhagen/Town Bluff Lake.

Hurricane Harvey has produced historic amounts of rain in the B.A. Steinhagen Lake watershed. Operations personnel are conducting heightened monitoring and safety surveillance activities at the dam.

B.A. Steinhagen/Town Bluff Lake release rates have been increased to over 44,100 cubic feet per second and it is anticipated that releases will exceed those experienced in the 2015 floods. Local emergency management officials have been notified and preparations for evacuation of affected downstream areas are underway.

Sam Rayburn Reservoir has the entire flood pool available to hold flood water. The only releases from Sam Rayburn in the near future will be for power generation to maintain service for the Powerhouse. These releases will be near 500 cubic feet per second and will have a negligible impact on downstream conditions.

Lake levels and discharge amounts may be viewed at http://www.swf-wc.usace.army.mil/lake/status.htm.
