New model pro xs owners: how much oil are you going through? Like fishing every weekend?

I have used 3 gallons of oil in 71 hours on my new Pro XS 250. I dont think that is a lot of oil On my previous motor i seemed to be putting oil in every other month.

Lol ok, thought maybe you'd like to hear more opinions about the options. Guys that have the g2 love it, I was just hoping maybe there'd be someone here that's run one against the others. I'll make sure to never "hi-jack" your thread there, Bro.

I think you'd be a fine canidate to buy the Pro XS with the compressor problems and the fact that they are soon to be discontinued for a 4 stroke lineup from mercury. Smart choice for someone like you.

Both great products. Yamaha higher purchase and parts price.

Have run both...Mercury on the boat this year. I switched over to the Quicksilver Premium Plus oil instead of the Mercury DFI specific oil in mine, and I haven't had one problem.

Got the compressor recall taken care of, and all is good.

SHO will jump out on the Pro XS coming out of the hole, but once on pad the Merc starts reeling it in. I see around 77mph GPS with the Pro XS in my 920, loaded. That's with a worked 26 by Mark Croxton. Saw about 73-74 with the SHO on the stock prop.

There's just something about a 2 stroke, for me anyways. To each their own

I don't think I like your little attitude. How about you go sit on a g2 propshaft. Seems like a smart choice for someone like you. D bag.

But Bro, shall we talk about the sho making oil or broken compressors and the replacement of injecters & fuel system cleaning afterwards?

But seriously, do remember that if you change brands you will also have to change out all components associated with the motor. Such as the shifter, wiring harness, etc.

I had a 200 Pro XS on my Bass Cat Pantera Classic (2012) and it was an awesome motor. I never had a single problem, it basically used no gas and was super quick out of the hole and top end. I loved the motor. I think i filled up the oil canister once or twice a year so it wasn't a big deal. Quick Silver oil at Academy. Like others have said.. on a new boat the Pro XS will be cheapest, SHO about 2K more and a G2 about 3K more than the XS.

I actually went with the G2 on my new Bass Cat. It is a beast of a motor with the best fuel economy and most power. New boat will be here in 6 weeks or so for a full review.

I never considered the SHO just because it was the motor I wasn't familiar with.. best of luck,

I like them both. I personally run a SHO and love the hole shot and the fact I never have to put oil into it like my last boat. I think the engine is much more responsive then the Mercury however I think the mercury is prob a little bit more reliable engine with a better top end. I think you will like whatever you get. Both great motors.
