If I had to choose, I would move to O.H. Ivie out in West Texas and get away from all the city slickers. Oh yea, that's a beautiful place...that's just the best part of Texas. (Please excuse the dripping...it's only sarcasm.)

Buchanan is right near you. Only been on it a few times but, it is a very nice lake. Except when it's as low as it is right now...my cousin has a place on that lake. It was a long walk to the water from his waterfront lot last year. Currently he is shopping around for a four wheeler or a golf cart just to get to the water.

Canyon Lake is a skier paradise. Not so hot for fisherpeople...although there are some big stripers. Also, it is illegal to build a boat or fishing dock.
"Ahhh, yes yes...who has time? Then again, if we never take time, then how can we ever have time?"

Thanks for the info on Canyon. Bummer that no docks are allowed. I guess that rules that one out.

Hey, newtofish! Take a trip to the Cedar Creek area. We ended up on CC by accident. No regrets. Fishing is great for Bass, Crappie, Sand Bass, Hybrids and catfish and the lake is easy to fish. You won't have to spend 10 years "learning" the lake. As far as a constant level lake is concerned, no rain, no water in the lake. We are all just coming out of a "This too shall pass" draught.

Lake LBJ has everything you want to fish for! Fish for whites/hybrids up the Llano arm, crappie on any of the bridges, and bass on the boat docks!

Ray Hubbard is constant level AND the old dock prohibition is going away (I have mixed feelings about this). Each city with lake front will soon regulate the building of boat docks but most have some pretty strict standards to try to preserve property values. Don't quote me on this, but I think wooden pilings are not allowed, just metal or concrete, and there are other specifics you can check with each city. RH is also 20 minutes from downtown Dallas. Can't beat that for convenience or for generating LOTS of summer weekend rec boater traffic too, unfortunately. I lived on the waterfront of RH for two years WAY back in the early 90's and loved it.
