We currently live between Georgetown and Liberty Hill. We are starting to look for a Lake House. Kids in college and have NO ties to anywhere in particular. My wife loves fishing for Whites and Hybrids. We are looking for recommendations for lakes we should consider.

If you don't mind Striper in place of Hybrids then Texoma would be really hard to beat. Plus, the Smallmouth fishing is supposed to be incredible.
Hubbard has great Hybrid fishing plus its has all of the amenities of a big city. Movie Theater and restaurants on one shore and a Bass Pro on the other Shore.
Depends on your liking I guess.

Just to the north of you is one of the best white bass lakes around in my opinion, year round you can always catch whites...Thats belton. Lots of nice places up around Morgans point area, with a private marina.

hey new to fish- just sent you a pm
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

If you want a dock, you have to look at Cedar Creek or Richland Chambers. Both have great Hybrid/Sandbass fishing and Cedar Creek has some of the best Crappie fishin you can find.

FishnMagician,
I used Amazon Tours on the Rio Negro tributary of the Amazon. It was a life changing experience.

I heard Greenville has 5 or 6 city lakes that are pretty nice. And a bonus is you will not need a heater in the winter time because the toxic waste will make you feel warm all the time. Funny, but true.

A lot of people have found Lake Conroe to be nice to live on. I was amazed the first time I saw that lake, the entire bank is timbered. Boat slips and houses all over the place, and it's supposed to be very good fishing. Lake Livingston is fairly nice also, but more "East Texas" people live out that way. If I had to choose, I would move to O.H. Ivie out in West Texas and get away from all the city slickers.

Buchanan is right near you. Only been on it a few times but, it is a very nice lake. I would like to find a constant level lake if there is such a thing? Supposedly Grandbury is constant level. I like Possum Kingdom too. Seems like if your going to by waterfront you'd want a pretty large lake to help avoid the crowds. Anyone want to comment on Canyon Lake?
