One technique where a senko shines, and it's something I don't see a lot of people do, is thread one on a shaky head. I don't why it works so well, but it does.

I'm surprised no one mentioned a drop shot. Lately, when nothing else is working I'll throw a senko, wacky rigged, on a drop shot. I rattle it around really good on when tilting the rod back and always seem to get hit.

As everybody has said.. the fall is where they get bit. Weightless, Texas Rig or Wacky.. I've had success both ways. I saw Jeff Kreit show a Wacky weedless technique.. sticking the hook into the bait in the middle, then bringing it back out.. then back into the bait like Texas Style.. would give you that wacky presentation but the hook is T rigged.. looked interesting. You really have to watch your line.. when I first started fishing Senko's I hooked fish really deep because I didn't know they had the bait.. I like watermelon red flake.. great color and plus 1 on Yum Dingers.. 5" is my fave size. They will cast a mile even into the wind.. Great bait.

I like to peg a 1/8oz tungsten weight about an inch up the line from the tex-posed senko on a #4 super line hook, 15# floro, 7' fast tip MH rod Oh Son!!

I fish them same as a weightless fluke. Couple sharp twitches and let it fall. Couple sharp twitches and let it fall. Senkos are soft but have best action. Always caught fish on watermelon red and just started fishing white as well. The sharp twitches cause it to dart then shimmy on fall. I hardly ever feel the bite since it's on the fall. They'll just start pulling. It's so versatile and can be fished so many ways it's hard to say what is best. Just start with weightless t-rig and branch out from there. Good luck and hang on!

I could be wrong but I see allot of people confusing Texas rigging with how soft plastics are weedless rigged on the hook. From what I have been taught, a Texas rig is a hook with a weight on the line above the eye (pegged or not) that keeps the bait in contact the water bottom. Texas rigging has nothing to do with how the soft plastic is rigged to the hook. A Texas rig can be rigged weedless but it can not be rigged weightless. A weedless rigged soft plastic can be rigged weightless.
I have had most of my Senko catch's on a weedless Texas rig or a weightless weedless rig. I don't have much experience with wacky rigs or Carolina rigs, But I do hear that a weightless wacky rig catches allot of fish.

I was taught Texas rigging was how you hooked the soft plastic, which could then be fished weightless, weighted, weedless, exposed, etc. I have heard the term "Texposed" thrown around but haven't caught exactly what it means. Regardless, I am learning and could be way off.

"Tex-posed"....where the hook is rigged Texas style. The hook barb is showing and only the very tip of the hook point is stuck back into the worm. Makes a weedless rig with the hook point very easily set. It pops right through the very outer layer of the worm.
Good for medium light rods with 8lb or lighter line.

Weightless or with the smallest bullet weight you can get by with.
Throw it out and let it do its thing.
You can hurt its action and your success by trying to move it like you would other soft plastics.
Stupidest looking but most fish catching bait I have ever used.

weightless hooked through the nose and texposed, wacky, wacky with a weighted hook, T rigged with weights up to 5/16 for the 7 inchers and lesser weights for the smaller ones. Surprisingly, you still get some shimmy action as they pendulum down nose hooked.

I slaugher them with this setup. Snelled hook, weightless, weed guard, and worm rattle. I don't like thin wire hooks or any hook smaller than that size there because 8+ pounders would bend them with ease when they run -- mostly because I don't like a loose drag setting.

5" or 6" Senkos are my go-to lure. It's almost all I fish with lately and they've worked everywhere I've fished (all over the US). Watermelon with red flake or pumpkin green. Texas rigged works great for me. Cast it, let it sink. Let it sit still a few moments and then reel slow. Hang on.... My 3 biggest fish (7lb's plus) all came off Senkos. Enjoy.
