No one ever told me to turn my lights off at the ramp, no signs, no one even yelled at me to teach me the lesson. No one ever taught me it was wrong to hold everyone else up at the ramp to get my boat ready or dry it and put everything away. No signs, no laws needed, just simple common sense and courtesy to others.
When I launched my first boat, the very first time in the dark, I noticed the ones in front of me did so.
Now I have passed this common courtesy on to my 16 year old son and anyone that goes with me to fish.
Look, I still make mistakes like everyone else but I don't want to inconvenience others if I can help it. When you see someone struggling at the ramp, offer help and assistance when needed, lord knows I have needed it a time or three.
Oh and to top it off...no signs or anyone ever had to tell me to return the shopping carts to the store or corrals so that others do not have to endure getting door dings.

Wrong....I have a new Tundra with LED DRLs....there is a fuse that can be swapped to make the DRLs the turn signals....or you can simply pull the fuse and do away with them all together.

We are more regulated by Big Brother than ever before...from light bulbs, toilets to the gas we buy and the list goes on and on and ON.
We don't need anymore signs, regulations or laws in my opinion. We need common sense, common courtesy, the UPBRINGING and ability to take responsibility when we make a mistake.
I never want to hit, bump or tap another trailer or truck but if and when I do, I will own up and make it right...simple as that.
true , but now we arent only regulated by big brother we are regulated also by sensitive people who will find a problem in everything else and who expect everyone else to know what bothers them even though you have no idea about their own personal written rules.I can completely understand the trailer deal thats a no brainer , but to expect everyone to know about turning their lights off if its not posted is unrealistic. Not unrealistic. The first time you try to back down the ramp wth someone's headlights blinding you, you realize that you should turn them off so you don't do that to other people.

If "common" sense was "common" we would all have it. I'm not sure why they call it "common" sense btw.

People who leave their headlights on at the boat ramp when unloading a boat are one of my pet peeves, It is impossible to see where to back up when you are trying to back up your boat.

I asked the Toyota dealer what the secret was to disabling the driving light feature. He told me you have to cut the wires. This was from a dealer. So, I understand it irritates some people, but I am not cutting wires to disable the driving light function permanently. http://toyota.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/7669/~/can-i-turn-off-my-daytime-running-lights%3F

So, I understand it irritates some people, but I am not cutting wires to disable the driving light function permanently. I have a 2017 tundra and ran across the same issue. I couldn't find the answer. I figured it out and offered it here in this post as a suggestion. It's just a matter of a few clicks on the e-brake before you turn the truck on. When I figured it out I made a new post on the trucks and towing page. I titled it in such a way as to have it come up on a Google search for "DISABLE DRL TUNDRA" http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbt...ra#Post12023913

I get the whole lights in your eyes at the ramp thing but what if your by yourself and it's a new ramp that isn't lit? Can't tell where the lane is or where to turn around. Besides if the guy backed in already has his lights blaring out, I'm turning mine on too.

What about the no wake issue.
I'm sure none of y'all do that.
As a kayak fisherman this is a particularly sensitive issue for me. For safety I intentionally fish in areas fish where wakes are not allowed.
I fish Lewisville and I would say about half of bass boats violate no wake zones to some degree. 90% of ski or "party" boats do.
Ive probably fished Lewisville a hundred times... Number of times I've seen a game warden enforce no wake zones? Zero.
Number of times I have seen a game warden on Lake Lewisville? ZERO!

I got to watch some guy trying to get his boat started (obviously first time out this year) for 30 minutes while I was trying to unload my boat and take my daughter fishing. It was a one boat ramp. I found it comical while watching him but my little girl sure wasn't happy.
Side note: I got exited at a club tournament Saturday morning and forgot to turn my lights off lol. Another club member nicely got in my truck and turned them off for me.

If you know the ramp and/or it's lighted, no problem.
