DW had it so bad, both ankles, had to get surgery. Months of physical therapy & exercise to stretch out the tendons didn't help. Been several years now and no further problems. That said, recommend surgery as last resort, might be able to fix it with less aggressive procedures.

Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.

I had it bad years ago when I was running 5 days a week. One thing that helped was some daily therapy: Take a 2 liter plastic bottle filled with water. Freeze it. Then once a day while you are watching tv, on the Pc, etc. Put it on the floor and roll it with the arch of the affected foot for 30 minutes or so. Mine went away after several months. Custom orthotics in your shoes will greatly help as well. Go to a specialized footwear store, can't remember the name. But they will evaluate your foot and walk. You may be pronating some and the arch has to be shaped to correct it. Buy some good cushioned running shoes.

I had it turrrible over the last year. Almost cry every morning when I got out of bed, and almost pizz myself before getting to the bathroom. Mine was the result of wearing flip/flops/crocs to much with no support. It is better now, but still can be sore after a long day at times.

Night Splints,

I have had multiple bouts of PF,
night splints are the fastest fix.

I used to only wear boots at work, and flip flops at home. Did that for like 10 years. I never had it diagnosed, but pretty sure I had it for about 2 years. Did ankle braces, the socks, inserts in everything. Quit wearing flip flops, and got out of the boots and into some "comfy" shoes (with inserts) when I could. I got to where I'd stretch it anytime I'd think about it, as hard as I could. I also did the frozen water bottle anytime I was at home, rolling it as hard as I could for as long as I could take it. I think that with losing some weight really helped get rid of it.

Doc told me mine was from boots and concrete 10-12 hours a day for umpteen years.

I always keep a couple water bottles in my freezer for just this. Roll them under your foot. Plus stand on a step with just your toes and lift up and stretch down.

My wife had it. Finally ended up having surgery to have the tendon cut. That took care of it for her.

I had it real bad about six years ago and finally went to my doctor. He gave me cortisone shots and it went away in two weeks and hasn't returned.

In the bottom of your foot? If so that had to hurt.

The shots were painful but not as bad as the pain from pf. I could barely walk for six months.
