Most places have a policy in place where they will refund the difference if you paid full price and an item goes on sale within a week afterward. Just be honest about it.

Usually you just need to take the receipt in to get the difference in price refunded.

Correct, i happen to know my wife does this stuff all of the time, that is getting adjustments to previously purchased items that go on sale later. Its like a game to her, and she spends a lot of time and effort on it for not that much money. Female economics, the gas and time running around for the money makes no sense

Bought our fridge on black Friday, two weeks later it went on sale. Called HD and they refunded me the difference. End of story, no need to make it more complicated than it needs to be.

I voted shower beer.

Buy the second one. See if their policy will refund the difference on the first one.

bought a samsung fridge years ago right before thanksgiving and it went on sale they credited my account with then new price then went online and it had a better deal and they gave me credit for another $200 they tell you if it goes on sale within 30 days they will always give you the sale price.

I am sure they will credit you the difference Have you used said item? If not return it, if so buy the 2nd part on sale.

What is wrong with returning the original item? The reason for the return is that you no longer want THAT item. Most stores have a return policy. I don't believe returning something is unethical.

I have never asked, but have heard others asked and they honored the sale price as they had just purchased it a few days prior to the sale. I agree the store is more likely to honor the sale price if you ask in person. $40 is a lot when you are buying two pieces.
