http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/edna-maes-escalloped-cabbage-recipe/

made this for the first time tonight and it's a keeper! We were having collard greens for New Year's but wanted to add cabbage to the menu as well without duplicating the flavors. This recipe for cabbage is baked in a cheese sauce and very good. The link above is from the Food Network's Chef, The Pioneer Woman. Great comfort food recipe for cabbage! Highly recommend!

1/2 head of cabbage cut up, bacon or ham, 1 cap full of white vinegar, Lawry's Seasond Salt, Tony Chacheres Creole Seasoning and water to about 1/2 way up the cabbage.
Cook till it gets tender or how every you like it. This is the only way I can get my wife to eat it.

Core it and fill with jalapenos and butter. Salt and pepper the outside. Wrap it in foil and put it on the grill.

Shred a head of cabbage. Put 3-4 tablespoons of olive oil in a cast iron skillet. Heat the oil and cut some chopped onions until translucent. Add the cabbage and some cleaned shrimp. Sprinkle with your favorite spices and simmer covered until shrimp are firm.

I have gotten where I fry up some bacon and onions. Then slice up some link sausage and fry it up. Cut up the cabbage and add to a pot, pour bacon and onion mix in the pot along with the bacon drippings and the sausage. sprinkle some Tony's Sacheries (SP) in it and add half a cut up onion. Sometimes I will pour beer in it and sometimes I don't. Cover and let it simmer, stir occasionally until the tenderness you like.
