I have 3 Tilley Hemp's and enjoy them though they have gotten a bit limp. Usually they stay on if I use the strap on the back of my head. Don't tolerate the under chin strap very well. May try the wire tip mentioned above. They have an old cooter look that I am completely ok with as that is exactly what i am.

Magellan makes both soft and hard brim hats. I have been using one of their hard brim hats for years. Very satisfied. I got it at Academy.

Straw hats is where it's at for keeping the sun off ya! Personally I wear a cowboy hat when I'm mowing on the tractor or working at my family farm. I hate a sunburnt neck! If the cowboy hat isn't for you Columbia makes a straw hat as well. They're about 30 bucks if I remember correctly

Sun Body Hats, that can be ordered, are made in Houston are great for sun protection. I actually like them as well as the Tilley. They are size specific which is much better and comfortable than the one size fits all kinda bands and they stay on in the wind better than most. Not too expensive and the basic hats are not too expensive.

Wide brim straw hats at Lowe's for about $12. Wider brim than most.

These might get in the way just a bit, lol. In all seriousness though, the soft brim Magellan hats at Academy work well for me.

I got an Aussie type hat from Oak Ridge that works very well. I use it for work and it has held up very well. they're on a rack across the doorway from the fishing line and reel counter last time I was in there. I don't remember the name or brand unfortunately.

Nice hat David. Sure keeps the sun off. Not sure where to get one of those. Also, I bet it wont stay on while I'm going 25 mph.

I saw this hat on a kid at Sea World a couple of years ago. I talked with his mother to find out what kind of hat it was and who made it. It is perfect for me - though stylish it is not. Extremely lightweight, no more neck burn and brim is not to large but still gives enough cover. It also has a draw string to keep it from blowing off and a ribbon draw around the head to tighten it when traveling. I haven't had trouble with it blowing off the head but the brim will bend down some when underway at speed limiting view of view a little. This bothered me til I recently began to place my baseball had on first, then this hat over it. Now the brim stays firm and I have full view. Sunday Afternoons - they have other hats too.

Got me some of that safety wire coming to fix my two Tilleys. Thanks guys. Hope it works as those things are expensive. Like a lotta things, they lose their stiffness as they get a little age on them.

Interesting thread. Figured I'd read it and find a clear winner. Not so. I may order me one of the ones from Sunday Afternoons.
