Ok...so we have post about fishing gloves, buffs/gaiters, how about one for wide brimmed hats?
My problem is I haven't found one with a thick enough brim that it won't fold up in a breeze. Anyone have one they can recommend? At my age I'm over the looks issue and could care less how it looks or what someone thinks, I just want one I can wear and have the brim stay in place.
Do I have to spend the money for a Tilly to accomplish this?

Straw lifeguard hat by Oneill. Lightweight and the brim won't flip up in the wind.

Buy one of those wide brimmed hats from Academy and spray it with clear Polyurathane. Several coats will make it stiff. Hey, if those country stars can spray their hats with black paint then why not clear coat?
Just one more cast!

My signmature hat for the boat is a suede leather hat. Only drawback is I have to take it of when the boat is unning wide open.

Duluth Trading. They have a few to choose from. I've got The Crusher and I really like it. Plus their guarantee is unbeatable. I know as I've used it a few times.

OK guys, a lot of you remember the boony hats they gave us in Desert Storm. We used a length of safety wire pushed into the seam around the edge of the brim to shape and keep the hat brim stiff.
You just bend the tip of the safety wire (.032) over about 1/4 inch and feed it inside the edge seam of the brim where it's sewn together. Works good and you can shape it anyway you want.
This works with any floppy hat with an edge seam sewn onto the hat brim.

I use a wide-brimmed Tilley. Expensive, but worth it with their lifetime guarantee. I've had 2 of them replaced free, and still have 3 hanging in my closet. If you wear the neck strap and back of neck strap properly, they will NOT blow off. BPS has some less-expensive ones, too.

That looks like a good hat, but it seems a bit steep. I wonder if it has a stampede string?
