Looks like a diamond back water snake to me. Harmless, but will scare the [censored] outta ya. I'm surprised we haven't seen more sightings of copperheads this year. I remember last year I watched 15 of them cross one curve in the creek within 30 minutes and they were all different snakes

Yeah, he was just cruzing along down the creek. Freaked me out because I was casting downstream, and by the time I saw him from upstream...he was beside me within about 7 ft. That'll teach me to watch upstream from now on.

I'm not sure what it was, but it has diamond patches and was about 4ft long. I've seen a few water moccasins and they were shiny black and heard they only swim with head above the water, where as copperheads and others whole body is on top of the water. Whatever it was, he sure wasn't scared of me. Sucker banked on my side 10ft down from me and headed straight for a brush pile.

Went out and limited in an hour this morning before work. Looks like its on and didnt have anyone close by to me for over 100 yards. Think I found my new favorite honey hole, all my other locations are already jam packed with people. Will be out probably each morning before work for the rest of the spawn. I have an empty freezer that needs filling.

I caught 2 babies (about 8 inches) and a 2 ft drum on ultralight again. Other than that, didn't see many catching much either.

If he told you that, then it wouldn't be his personal honey hole and there would be 2 other guys within 100 yards of him. Geez, let the man have his personal space.

You said you caught 2 sandbass. What do you want...to limit out everyday so some enviromental nutjob who forgot to take his meds can scream at you about how fish are an endagered species???

Actually, if you caught 2 then you can easily catch 25. Maybe try little different lures and basically it's all about location and if the fish are there TO be caught. You probably only had a few fish at your location, but that's why most guys don't like to share where their prime locations are. But big kudos for getting out there and trying, it'll pay off.
