Headed down today. Non resident but I sure support your local economy. Ever thought of it that way nutman? I spent over a grand last spring on food, fuel and lodging. Think a little deeper why your city makes money buddy.

Beautiful lake, beautiful country out there so I try to go when I can. Sadly working in the metro I can't live out there but would love to be a few minutes from the lake so I could learn it better because 1 or 2 times a month is a slow process. So anyone that's wants to throw a serious piece of input on general locations and techniques to a guy who fishes just to decompress and enjoy nature along with my kiddos please shoot me a pm. I don't fish tournaments and I don't need your GPS locations but some helpful input would be appreciated. We do OK when we go but I know that lake has a lot of potential.
Be safe out there.

Well this just turned into a great post, I think this is more popular than Bruce Jenner! Just saying, just go fish and have fun and not make problems for everybody else.

Yall are a trip. You want to keep your lake to yourself, yet yall keep making posts about the lake on a worldwide forum. You do know it'll keep going to the top of the page every time you post on it. Let it slide on out of here. The Internet will ruin many lakes due to big mouths
2 SALS,,,,,hundreds of Bass Club tournaments,,,,,,,professional guides,,,,,,right next to the Texas Fishery,,,,,,, I don't think our BIG mouths or this forum will ruin Little Ol Lake Athens. Besides that,,,,,it is a slot lake......won't that keep it from being overfished.

Lake is incredibly dirty today, 6-inch visibility, fishing should be very tough today

Athens is a good little lake but there a several others not far with good bass populations and chance for a big fish or two. Hawkins, Quitman, Holbrook, Gilmer, Tyler to name a few.
Slide right, coming in .... Fish On!

I drove by today, never seen the water that dirty before. I don't fish it a ton, but it was 6 inch visibility max and the wind was hummin.
