They opened lake athens back up. So I guess the Tuesday night tournament is back on.

Made my day! I took tomorrow off 2 weeks ago to go to Athens. I've been contemplating all weekend where to go.

Opened up just in time for us to go tomorrow morning too... worried about the water being filthy and fishing tough though. Now can't decide between bass fishing Athens and going after tilapia for an eventual grease bath at Fairfield... Decisions, decisions...

I just posted up a report on athens, Fishing is awesome! Sunday was great..everything is still flooded...cast on the bank to catch the fish...they are that shallow. First time to that lake yesterday and caught so many on the bank can't imagine what you guys do on a boat there.

I sure wish the AMWA would charge a $10 ramp fee for non-Athens residents. That would slow things a bit. I think I'll go to the next Board Meeting and suggest just that.

It's the worst lake in tx. You can't catch a cold there. I'd go to Kickapoo Creek if I where y'all.

Why do yall constantly complain about people enjoying public water that they have every right to fish as you. I grew up in Athens and can't stand the way that it is portrayed by the people on this forum. If you have a Texas fishing license by all means go fish any public waters you wish and enjoy yourselves, hell I don't care if you're from another state. I am going to Toledo Bend for the rest of the week and worry at all that I'm not a LOCAL, and luckily they businesses people around there don't seem to mind either. Life is too short to be a grumpy person.

They opened lake athens back up. So I guess the Tuesday night tournament is back on. You do realize that this is a 70% payout tournament right? I won't air any other dirty laundry, but if you don't believe me, just ask when you sign in. I know, it's hard for you to believe that guys have some really good days on this lake. If you actually knew the big names in the industry that come to this lake, instead of Fork, to catch 8 pound + fish, you would be amazed. If you knew how it was done, your negative comments would change... I sure wish the AMWA would charge a $10 ramp fee for non-Athens residents. That would slow things a bit. I think I'll go to the next Board Meeting and suggest just that. This is not a bad idea. Although, as a local tax payer, AMWA customer, and avid user of said "ramp", I would like to know where my money is going (i.e. improvements, additions, projects, etc, etc). Just a thought, typically board members of million dollar businesses want a complete plan of action to consider. EXACTLY!

Thx, I am well aware that guys catch big sacks on this lake and that some big name guys fish this lake. It is a great lake. Many, many weekend warriors have come on here and proclaimed their greatness after a trip to Athens to ensure the world knows........ some even have pics.
Jesus loves all of us
