I wonder if we can make this year's thread devoid of mass misinformation....

Just north of Miller bridge there is a little labyrinth they have to get through to get further up the creek, construction barriers that slow the flow downstream. Reference Kung Fu Jimmy's pics. That might form a bottleneck for ambitious sandies early on with water levels staying how they are.

A week of warm night temps should help get things going, I'll be out to scout tomorrow or Monday.

Yes they are moving and I wish I had a working fish finder last Thursday to actually see how many are staging at the mouth. I did see a few swirl in the afternoon, but still no enough of them to making exciting. With this warm weather it may get more up into the creek I am hoping.

What I see is not many of last years spots are out of water. The creek is running clear and high so the sandies will have lots of places to run.

I really hope they remove that break quickly. The sandies can navigate past it right now but if the creek drops a foot and half they will be blocked. I scouted the creek on Friday and it has not looked that good in years. The water is in good shape and the creek is nice and wide. This years run should be epic (with the removal of the temp dam).

Good to meet you on Friday Grainraiser. Yeah at the beginning of this stream I stated that dam had not come down and if we did not receive rain there would be no reason to fish north of the bridge.

6 inches of water is not a lot for the fish. That side channel is not complete; lots of garbage and construction debris.

I did ask the construction foreman a few weeks back if they were going to remove. He did state that they have some landscaping to do but no charter for the creek other than to remove their equipment and construction debris.

Just came from down there with the boys. Saw people fishing and a few kayaks but no one pulling fish.

New guy looking to fish Rowlett creek this week. I have been through the forum and came up with this shopping list.

Blue Fox super vibrax assorted 1/8 & 1/4 oz
Crappie jig yellow , chartreuse 1/8 oz
Roadrunner Red, chartreuse 1/8 & 1/4 oz
Cigar bobber, fish the jigs under the bobber

Should I plan at Miller Rd. and walk south to the bend or on Firewheel Parkway and go south?

Please be nice to the new guy.
