Ate at Hickory Roots in Terrell yesterday, the best thing I ate was steamed cabbage. Ribs were dry and tough, suasage had to be right out of the Eckridge package, pitiful.

The best rib plate, by far for me, would be David's on Park Row in Pantego (Arlington). And, the best Beef Plate or sliced/chopped beef sandwich, too.
They are part of the legendary Bryan tribe and it makes my mouth water just thinking about it.
Jimmy has run the restaurant for years now.
One very close runner-up for me is a little BBQ place up in Springtown northwest of Fort Worth. A friend told me how great it was and we went there for a lunch. I had a beef sandwich that was top notch but haven't tried their ribs.
Brad
P.S. I wouldn't rate Angelo's now or in the past even remotely close to the top. It used to have a nice ambiance, a nice vibe (maybe it still does) but the BBQ is average at best.

I am looking for a place with great ribs. My wife likes the small spare ribs and I like the big beefy ribs. There was a place in Kaufman for a while that had Eddie Dean ribs that were awesome but they weren't there too long. I had some really good one's in Glen Rose at Hammonds BBQ but looking for a place a little closer to home. What place do you like? The best ribs in DFW are made in my backyard smoker over hickory, pecan and fruitwood, using Myron Mixon's rib rub. I can make my own rubs, but Myron's is damned good, and easy to buy. Besides that, you might try Pecan Lodge in Deep Ellum, or Lockhart Smokehouse (Dallas and Plano).

You can order it online (just Google 'Myron Mixon Rib Rub'), but I get mine from the Memphis Barbecue Supply Store in Memphis, TN.
