I fished two different creeks yesterday morning from a boat.
One muddy and barely any current, the other very clear and decently flowing water.
Fished every bit of structure that i could and never caught a thing. This went on for 4 hours, ugh!

Are you guys fishing moving water at all? I want suprised to not catch anything in the muddy creek as the jig disappeared after dropping it two inches down.
I was very suprised to not catch a sandbass, crappie or bass in the other. The non muddy creek had tons of structure.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
The way I fish creeks for crappie is really similar to lakes to be honest. I let the graph tell me where they are, or fish obvious cover or structure if the graph is inconclusive. If I don't have a graph I start mid water column, i.e. if it is 8' deep I'll start at 4. Slow muddy water and moving clear water can both be very productive but neither is ideal. In muddy water I like colors like black, orange, yellow, and white with heavy scent or crappie nibbles etc. In clear water I like clear plastics tinted in chartreuse or green or pearl. Tons of structure / cover isn't always good because that equates to tons of hiding spaces. I've had those days where I've covered miles of a creek without a bite. In those cases the best option is the "nuclear" option which is to find the very best combination of cover and structure and put the most jedi focus I can into picking it apart until I get a bite, cycling through baits and presentations. The best cover/structure is often something like a fallen tree on a deep creek bend with a steep adjacent sandbar. With water temps dropping into the 40s now you are going to get incredibly soft bites. If your line has memory or if you are fishing with a clunky bobber it will cost you fish.

They would not hit an UNPAINTED JIG HEAD. it had to be plaid. ( Rudy)

I was I thought I saw a guy that looked just like you. But he did sit and fish the wall for crappie for a bit. I should have introduced myself anyway

Awesome thread! Fished WRC yesterday with a buddy and easily caught 30-35 crappie under some structure/debris but not a single keeper. All were between 8-9 inches. The bend people usually go and fish at that creek is flooded with huge shad. I was fishing it before we found that structure and snagged up about 5-6 of those shad. Awesome to see people still getting out in this cold and finding these crappie! If anyone ever wants some company PM me!

Did some night fishing last night at a creek (something I don't do alot of) and found a few crappie. Was fishing about 5 ft deep and caught mostly dinks but did catch about 4 keepers. I forgot how hard the fish hit at night. Was going to take some pics but they didn't come out that good.. even with flash.
