Weekend forecast looks grim for fishing. Front coming, temps dropping, heavy rains, possibly severe. Good luck with all that.

Rudy We get lucky on this one. This front is going to be fast moving! Chance for heavy rain but should be over with in a couple of hours after the front passes. However the winter forecast says very wet/cold!

CAught a slew of 'em last night along with another tff'er, and i brought these home. My newest dinner guests! Between us we probably caught 50 or more, and that's cause my buddy left early, and they were biting when he left. They are no longer just at the mouth of the creeks, they are way up in the creeks! On my way to a promising brush pile I found in a creek yesterday. Saw a lot of 10 inch plus crappie come out of that pile late yesterday afternoon. They came fast and furious, so gotta check it out! Thank God and Walmart for Glow Sticks! Rudy

Question, does the fact that these fish are in creeks require a lake that is relatively shallow or do you guys believe all lakes with major feeders have this situation? Nice report

Every lake I know of around here has the creek bite as long as there's water. I think some lakes just have easier access or more proximity to people so you hear about them more. Take lakes inside the 635 loop with a good bite and try and no have it be crowded.. But take the same situation an hour outside of town and people don't talk about it the same
There are no fish in sonic pond EDIT: Except 1 20lb catfish

If you consider lakes Lewisville, Ray Roberts, Cedar Creek shallow lakes, then yes I guess it is. All three of those lakes have several feeder creeks that stack up with crappie this time of year. I am of the belief that if the lake has shad and minnows, and if they move into creeks, which often have warmer water than the lakes, the crappie, and other game fish, will follow. That being said, those same lakes will hold great numbers of crappie this time of year in their deeper sections. Those fish probably spend their entire lives in the main lake, roaming it, and maybe never swim into a creek. So there you have it. For what it's worth.

They sat in a bucket of ice overnight. I assure they were quite healthy and beautifully colored when we caught them.
