Loomis, Kistler, and Daiwa all have some very pricey rods in the $500 range.

Walker Nelson (Wafflejaw) can get you taken care of. The right NFC, Phenix, or Rainshadow blank with a bare-bones build should be lighter and more sensitive than just about anything you can buy off the shelf.

One more question, who or what brand is the best and lightest rod on the market, local or national builder.
Price does not matter. G. Loomis NRX or Megabass Orochi XX are both strong contenders. I'm partial to the NRX but Megabass is making a serious play.

Price does not matter. Check out Dobyns. Champ line is awesome and the Extreme line is even better.

Price does not matter. Check out Dobyns. Champ line is awesome and the Extreme line is even better. I love Dobyns rods. They're great rods. The DX784C is one of my favorite rods. But the NRX is a different rod entirely. That's why the Dobyns Champion Extreme rods are ~$350 and the NRX rods are ~$550. The man said: "Price does not matter."

Lots of good blanks out there easily on par with or superior to the glx blanks. Gary's new company North Fork Composities, Eternity2 by Batson, Phenix K2...
Finding the right length might be tough.

Price does not matter. with that caveat, G-loomis NRX. I was fortunate enough to obtain one (and only one). To test it out, i threw identical texas rigs with the same tungsten weight, bait, line, reel, everything except the rod - same cast coming through the same cover, first with a falcon cara, then with the NRX. First cast with the cara, i could tell i was coming through some timber/brush. Next cast i threw the NRX, i felt like it was a cedar christmas tree. It seemed the difference between watching analog TV and HDTV in terms of feel. In terms of weight, no comparison, the NRX was WAY lighter. Second test, a friend and I got on a school at welsh and the only thing they would bite was wacky rig senkos off a break, but if you were throwing that you'd catch a fish every cast. My buddy was throwing a loomis GLX, i was throwing the NRX. Everything else was equal, same color senko, same rigging, same line. After 20 fish, about 10/each, he stated that he hadn't "felt" any of the bites, he noticed his line moving and set the hook. I had felt ALL of the bites and set the hook when they bit. Did it matter in catching on that day - No, but it was interesting to say the least. Anyway if price doesn't matter, NRX is the best i have had the opportunity to throw.

Get hold of Rtee at TackleRight Rod n Reel Repair. He has a guy that builds rods out of the building across from Oak Ridge Caf. I just know his first name, Dave. He built me 3 rods. I bought my own blanks from Tackle Unlimited out of Houston. Best blanks. The 3 he built for me or perfectly balanced. I am very pleased. I have about $200.00 in each rod. His number is 903-440-0044

If ya got deep pockets, Loomis NRX is hands down the lightest most sensitive rod on on the market. Absolutely love them!
