Looking to start fishing more again, and am new to the area. I like being able to sneak out and fish a little on saturday morning before the wife gets up. I live in NRH, wondering if any of the little local ponds are good for bass or crappie, i'm gonna try and hit some after the trout stocking, but wondering what other fish may be in which pond. Thanks in advance!

I've wondered about that pond also. I don't ever see many people out fishing. Guess i'll have to try and see for myself one day. I didn't know there was public access to that pond at trinity. How do you get in there? Thanks!

green valley park has 2 ponds ive heard they have catffish, blue gill and trout not sure of the bass in the ponds.
might also consider the pond at denton hwy and 820 park in the banks parking lot
has anyone fished the ponds at the ballpark arlington? i think they have had some kidfish events there, might still be some rogue catfish swimming about

I live about 1 minute away from the park in watauga. There are bass in there and catfish and bluegill. I have only fished it like 2 times, but I have talked to a guy that said there are some big fish in it. I have only caught a few cats and blue gill on a lil beetle spin. But it is very easy to get around and clean too!

Ranger, I'm from NRH.......try the Colleyville nature center and the ponds on the trails over there. It is off of glade road. When I was in high school I used to go up there.....back then there were some big fish in there. Good luck.

Also try the pond at Chisolm Park in Hurst. They used to have trout derbies about once a month. If you are looking across the pond at the dock....there is a big tree about fifty meters to the left with a bench underneath it. Toss your line about thirty feet out on the bottom and you'll usually end up with a couple of catfish.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I'm a newbie really at bass and crappie fishing. I grew up trout fishing rivers in New Mexico, so i'm hopefully gonna get some more practice this spring. I'm going to try and hit the places listed throughout the next few weeks. This weekend though, i'll be fishing in broken bow, oklahoma. Can't wait to go, if anyone has been there, i'd like to hear some stories.

Ranger, welcome to the bass obsession. It is good that your are fishing for other fish as well, since that will keep your focus broad. Also, welcome to the area. All over Tarrant County & Dallas County for that matter you can find excellent fishing. 95% of these ponds have bass, bluegill & others. Me personally, I'm only concerned about bass. Try going to www.maps.google.com and check out on the map any blue areas. Once you found it push the button to go to the Airel Satillite Photos and home in on the ponds. The Watauga Pond adjacent to Denton Hwy/377 does have fish. I caught a 2 lb 6 oz bass in December. Colleyville Nature Center has some good bass but you will have to down size & stay quite. Boys Ranch in Bedford has some bass. Secret place behind Hyatt next to Gaylord (enough said). 377 & 820 pond has bass. Several ponds off of I35 near Alliance Airport hsa bass. Now for Fort Worth, I'm going to let you find those since that's my stomping grounds, but I'll let you know of a good one. Echo Lake, off of I35 & Ripy holds some outstanding fish in it. Myself & my girl have caught some quality & quantities of fish out of there. Good luck & welcome to the area. You shouldn't have any problem finding places to go fishin' around here.
