They are way overpriced and they are not even the best ice chest on the market, to me I think certain people buy them because they think it makes a status statement. To me I look at these people and think, what an idiot!!! I want to re-do or retract the statement above, I did not mean to say idiots but would like to change that to people that aren't money wise. I mean the Yukon tested better but you never hear much of that one, I'd say buy one of these extreme coolers if you going to be out for three days but check these other brands as well.

I'm amazed at what guys will spend on a cooler. When I sold boats we always tried to explain to sacrice one bag of ice on the way to the lake to condition the built in cooler. Then ice down the drinks when you arrived with a fresh bag at the lake. You'd have thought we were trying to sell golden bags of ice with all the dismay that idea brought.
Now guys are dumping hundreds on a product that tells you to sacrifice a bag of ice to treat the cooler. Blows my mind Used to think this way too until I took a 4 day trip on the Buffalo last year in canoes. Yeti's kept food fresh and cold the whole trip while other coolers did not. I have two small ones now and my family just got me a hopper for my Kayak for fathers day. Yes you have to condition the yeti's also but once conditioned they keep ice a LONG time! I would not think they are necessary if you are where you can buy ice daily but on a multiday trip where you can't, they are awesome!
See you on the lake and have a great day!

Yes you have to condition the yeti's also but once conditioned they keep ice a LONG time! that's a good point, I never thought about conditioning first, more required because of thick insulation. actually one reason my ice might have melted so fast so much cooling had to be sucked up by the insulation first.

I use an ice chest for 2 things. Mine keeps ice just fine for a day or two to keep beer or water cold. My buddy told me it would save him money on buying ice. That's a lot of bags of ice just to break even. Throw a little sea salt in the water and it will keep cold for a long time. The other use is for packing my deer meat after a hunt. Its usually cold when i hunt so the ice holds just fine. I usually fill up all the coolers with ice before we head to the lease and they are conditioned. My igloo has held ice for 5 days on the hunting lease. Justify it however you want it's your money not mine. That's $400 I'd rather put towards my retirement. It's just like anything else. Can I afford a new car? Yes I can. Can I afford a new boat? Yes i can. Can I afford a yeti cooler? Yes I can but to me it's just not worth it. I would rather have all that money in my retirement. I see so many folks that have lots and lots of fun toys but are cash poor. I'm not. But you know what, it's your money that you earned and if you can justify spending that much on a ICE CHEST, more power to you. Enjoy it now I guess.

when I get to the lake for the weekend I want to stay at the lake and not have to run to town to keep getting ice. I have three Yetis and fill the largest with ice and leave in the house. the 25 goes to the boat and I will have ice all weekend. well worth the $$... #yetiproud

And the silver one is $20 cheaper than the other colors. After reading all the reviews on this product I am going to pull the trigger and give it a try. Never tried one, but I have done several soft sided coolers in the past, mostly from Avery Outdoors. I like them, but they leak and there doesn't seem to be much you can do about it. I'd be interested to see if you had any leaking problems. I used to put ice in Ziploc bags and use those to keep the leaking to a minimum.

Does Yeti support bass fishing? If not, are other alternatives just as good.

Make sure you put the Yeti sticker on your back glass. That way everybody will know you have one and it will add a couple more fish to your livewell
