Brian went to Angler club. See picture below of boat ramp. Eagle Mountain is 2 ft over full and it is going to come up
another 1 1/2 ft.according to TRWD It won't get in anything till about 5 ft. over full. When I lived on the lake they would tell you don't build anything that will get wet at 5 ft above . They called that the flood plain. A lot of people did not pay attention to that and then screamed when they got wet.

I'm kind of wondering the same. Can someone report back here if any west metroplex lakes are open? I suspect Martin Creek probably is. What about Lake Worth? I assume Grapevine and Ray Roberts are still closed? Is Lewisville open? Any word on Arrowhead? I bet they've had more water than we have.

If worse comes to worse I may have to try Granbury or PK.

All I have to say is: WE should all be glad to have some water. What if the lakes had been at pool when this rain came?
There would have been a huge disaster. I guess we have forgotten that the lakes were built to contain and control flood waters. Not for fishing!! Fishing is just one of the perks that comes with them. Have you all looked at what's going on downstream?
FLOODING ... Let's give them some more water? We just look at our own back yard. The creeks in my area are still roaring, and probably will be for another week or so. There is no control over them. When they run their course. Then the corp will start managing lake levels. And I bet the lakes will be in better shape than they have in many years. I would love to be able to get on the lake and fish as much as all of you. But not at the cost of others personal belongings, property and maybe even loved ones lives. Relax guys ....

Jb lake worth is still closed.
Fmclee this thread has covered a lot of different things. But I don't think anyone's desire to fish
is stronger than people's lives and property. Fishing sucks till lakes settle down.

I agree with Johnny. The original subject was why close EM and BP and the stupid people that control it. It was not about how the flood was affecting people. It also was not about fishing. I have no problem when people close lakes like Texoma, RR, Lewisville and such, because they are unsafe. Look at Johnny's pics of Anglers Club and tell me why EM is closed. Twin Points boat ramp is still usable and would be if the water was 5' higher. I was all over the lake when it was +1.5' and did not see anything in danger of being flooded. According to TP&WD it is only +2' this morning. If it endangers property and lives then close it. As far as fishing goes, it is so muddy, you would have to hit a fish on the head and him bite in defense. I have never been on BP.

Just called TRWD. They will not have the lake Bridgeport open this weekend for boat traffic. I asked what criteria would determine when the lake might be back open. The lady on the phone did not have an answer.

The good news is Worth is getting restocked. The dredging did a number on it and open Eagle Mountain gates is the only way to get it restocked.

Guys the reason from what I have heard the reason was for closing boat traffic - was to protect boat houses and homes that have water over them from the additional damage caused by the wakes of the boat traffic beating up against flooded boat docks (widespread on the lake) and soon to be homes lying in the flood zone.

My dock is currentley underwater and I have a friend who lives off boat club road and the water is close to being in the lower level of his lakehouse.

Hopes this helps

Eagle Mountain, Bridgeport lakes close due to high levels

May 29, 2015

The Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) announced today that it has closed Eagle Mountain Lake and Lake Bridgeport to recreational activities, including boat traffic, until further notice.
The closures are a result of inflows created by heavy rainfall in recent days. Wakes created by boaters could potentially flood low-lying homes at both reservoirs. In addition, rising lake levels and debris could create hazardous conditions for other recreational activities.

TRWDs staff has been monitoring conditions 24-hours a day since May 11, and will continue to do so until conditions improve. The latest information on the districts lakes can be found at www.trwd.com/lake-level-blog.

Accoding to the TRWD - the lake will continue to rise and crest tomorrow at 1400 at 652.15....current level is 651.24... so it will rise another foot.. 3 feet over normal pool.

I think every one is aware of why they said they closed it. Flood plain is 5 ft above full
not going to reach that. A lot of stuff built in flood plain. Which is a shame but they will let you.

Not to start an argument ... But how many of you can "honestly" say that if they were to open the lake asap, you would not put your boat in and fish? Be honest. I would love to fish .... I bet the catfish are beating the banks and grass in this new water!
It is about fishing or you wouldn't care if the lake was closed, along with with the ramps. This IS a "FISHING FORUM" remember?
