TRWD has closed Bridgeport and EM to all boat traffic until further notice per their website.

what are the odds they will open it back up by Sunday, they say they are "TRWDs staff has been monitoring conditions 24-hours a day since May 11, and will continue to do so until conditions improve"
think they work on weekends?

I really don't know how the closure works. They can close their ramp, but otherwise they would have to patrol 24/7 to keep people off the lake. I would not expect an official opening this weekend.

What a joke. 1 ft above full and it is going to get in peoples house. Like twin points closed due to low water but they would meet you and you could load your 35 ft. boat. They love closing lakes to boat traffic just any excuse will do. When I lived on the lake they said they would close it at 5 ft above full. Johny

Don't know much about Bridgeport, but I don't see the danger on EM with the water slightly above normal pool level. Kind of an overreaction, IMHO. Unless there is serious floating debris/logs or the water is causing flooding danger, it should not be closed.

Most of the floaters have already been cleared out with the earlier rains.

Most of the floaters have already been cleared out with the earlier rains. yep. I've been out twice in the past week and all I've seen is some very small stuff floating around. Really surprising to see them close down at the level it is at right now.

I just went over the spill way and there was a boat on the mid lake hump. And the ramp at EM marina had a LAKE CLOSED sign on the ramp

I was out there today tearing up catfish. Ran out of bait, went to round up some shad and the TRWD police to me I had to get off the lake that it was closed.

Just drove across spillway and 3 boats running around. Not much enforcement. They won't be out there home watching T.V. drinking beer. Johnny

I spoke with Mary Kelleher, and she indicated the decision to close the lake was an administrative decision. In other words, the TRWD Board did not make the decision. She definitely was receptive to our concerns.

That is not exactly what she said...I was majorly paraphrasing. It looks like this was Jim Oliver's decision...and I think it is quite clear that Mary Kelleher is not Jim Oliver's biggest fan. Check this out for more info... http://www.fwweekly.com/tag/jim-oliver/

Well dang, that's really disappointing to hear. Not sure where I will go Sunday, but had planned to try Bridgeport for a change.
The article I read on WFAA made it sound like EM is definitely closed for the entire weekend.

The way they are treating it it would make me think that there is some crack that they don't want to tell us about in the dam and don't want you riding your boat like a surfboard through downtown Fort Worth. That's really weird at the current level of those two lakes.
