This is why it's so sad to see Choke in the current state that it's in now....if that lake were to receive enough rain to fill it up it will simply end up being discharged....agree with you that it's criminal.....I can't remember the explanation given by one of the locals but there is an agreement I believe in place for this. I'd have to ask again and verify....

Sorry that I didn't screenshot the entire graph last night, by the time I realized I didn't get the top of the graph I had poor Internet connection and I couldn't get it to post.

That site isn't working this morning for some reason..??

I once heard that they are required to let out a percentage of what's coming in but I am not certain that is correct. Seems a bit disillusion if it's true.

If the frio is hitting flood stage and more is coming maybe they think it will hit full + and they need to let some out... he we can dream right?

More likely when this rainy period ends...and we know it will...the river flow will slow to a trickle and the lake will fall even farther below its current level.

Just think of all the people between Mathis and Corpus that are flooding...and then you hear that they are letting water out of a lake that needs a lot of water to be full. Also there is still a lot of water coming down the Nueces between Tilden and Cotulla.

From looking at the lake level site the lake really didn't come up much at all yesterday. So much for all the water that was supposed to be hitting the lake.

It does seem strange....all of this water "going to get there," flooding above Choke, this and that river at flood stage that supposedly empties into Choke, and flooding below Choke, BUT Choke has only come up 9 INCHES since Monday! It sounds sort of like O H Ivie!

Choke and Ivie...the two slowest rising lakes in the world. At least Ivie has two or three lakes above it that are catching most of the water than could end up in it. Choke? No such explanation.

This might be why they are having to let water out of Choke.

The NWS just issued a flood warning for the Frio River, saying it will rise to a "life threatening" level tonight. Based on what we have seen over the last couple of weeks that will probably translate to a one inch rise at Choke,

I know, I was being sarcastic. There has been a lot of water in the area for a while now and the lake has barely risen.
