There has been a lot of rain around and NW of Choke since last night. The rise in lake level has been a lot slower than I would have expected. Maybe South Texas will catch enough rain this weekend to make a serious dent.

The rain that hit the Frio River up near Uvalde last week is finally making its way towards the lake. The Frio River near Choke Canyon is expected to hit flood stage sometime today. This is just a speculation but either way the lake will catch some water over the weekend with the expected rain and the water coming down river.

A freind of mine said they were releasing water from the lake, he said from a pipe by the dam, don't know why but thought that was strange

grout-scout, where did you see that they are discharging water from the lake? If that is true, it's criminal. Everything south of the lake is flooded and Choke still needs 25'.

It's a USGS website and shows every river & lake that is monitored. They just started letting the water out according to the graph. http://m.waterdata.usgs.gov

I don't understand why they would be letting water out of choke. It's flooding all the way down to Corpus. Doesn't make any sense at all.

Thanks Grout. I wonder who made the decision to release water...and why.

Probably some governmental policy about maintaining stream flow...

Lake Corpus Christi is full at 94. They are still taking on water from the nueces and releasing to the bay so for choke to be releasing is absolutely stupid because all its going to do is get released out of lake cc into the bay also
