Also back in the late 90's me and my dad was duck hunting at McFadden Wildlife Refuge near Sabine Pass and when he finally got to the pond we were hunting (about a 1 1/2 walk through marsh) it was frozen. I was about 15 at the time and was carrying both our guns and ammo and he was carrying all the decoys (3 dozen or so). Me being the lighter load decided to step up first and test the ice before walking across because going around would have been about 5 times further. Held me just fine so my old man stepped up stood there for a second and as soon as he took a couple steps he fell through. Wasn't that deep but the ice cut a big hole in this waders and they filled up quick. It was probably about 20 Degrees that day. Being the trooper he is he got out of his waders and dumped the water out and proceeded to ease across the ice but pulling the decoy bag this time instead of carrying it. Long story short we made it across, shot some holes in the ice for the decoys and started a fire for him to warm up and dry out some before sunrise. Right before shooting time we put out the fire and had our limit in about 30 minutes. Only time I had ever shot ducks and seen them hit the ice and slide about 100 yards lol

Once.....bro in law fishing next to me on the front deck. I let him run the TM. He put it on high 24 volt and he made a 90 degree turn and trolled the boat right out from under me. We were in 15 feet of water and I think I hit the bottom before I resurfaced........hat was still floating on the surface. I was just glad it was summer time.

I've gone in once out of the boat. Moving across the bayou in Louisiana with trolling motor on high and ran into a submerged tree. Did a belly buster off the bow.

Three year old dropped his spiderman rig in the water only a few minutes earlier, so I was already wet.

After I retrieved that we were watching about a 9-10' gator cruising this cove. It was after that when I went in. When I resurfaced my son was in tears. It took him forever to stop crying cause he knew that gator was going to get me.

The worst fall was when I fell out the boat at Amistad when the boat was on the trailer. Small fracture in elbow, banged up chin, bruised wrists that heart more than the elbow and chin.

We didn't technically fall in, but my partner and I were fishing a high school tournament on Lake Tawakoni. It was down a good amount but we thought running into the coves by the park would have payed off. Needless to say, we got stuck on a sandbar and couldn't get the boat moving. So my partner and I jumped off and grabbed a rope and started pulling in 3ft of water with high waves. We decided it was enough for one day and went back to the weigh in soaked.

Yep twice. First time at Ray Roberts from hitting a stump while standing on the trolling motor. Second time was last April on Fork trying to push off a stump. Had my phone in my pocket and it didn't survive.

I was fishing a tournament on RH, I was fishing a crankbait and backlashed and somehow my line got in my trolling motor and jerked my rod out of my hand into the lake. I was on my knees trying to get it before it got out of reach, I leaned to far forward and over I went. I got the rod back. At the time I thought a fish hit the cb while I was getting the backlash out. All I would of had to do is lift the tm to retrieve the rod if I had known it was wound up in the tm to start with.

Happened to my fishing buddy. Several years ago, Fork, cold and very windy. Wind pushed us against a dead tree that was 4-5 ft. above the water. He pushed off against the tree, it broke, and he just followed the tree into the water. Lost his new high dollar Maui Jim's, but held onto his rod and reel and I pulled him into the boat.

In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

My first trip to Fork, I fell in twice in one day. Hated the lake and was not a happy camper. Fished a tourney out there the next weekend and won. Best day of topwater fishing I've ever experienced. I was 15 years old at the time.

Fork on a mid Nov morning few years back. My wife and daughter were going to NY to see her sister and I dropped them off at DFW at 4am then drove to fork. Had about 1:45 till light when I got there so set the alarm on my phone. Woke up at 9 since I set it for about 6:45pm. Put boat in and parked truck. Water was way down (what a shock) so it was about 3' from the dock to the deck. I thought I can do this. One foot hit the deck I grabbed my front seat as I had too much momentum and that spun me around and I looked like a diver going in. Phone was runined and had to way to tell wife. Lucky my keys were in waterproof pocket and they didn't get wet and ruin the keyless part. Soaked I swam to the ramp walked up went to truck changed clothes. Loaded boat went to LFM and they let me check in super early. I dried my clothes there took a nap and tried again that afternoon. The wind/front showed up by then and for two days I was on the water for about 2.5hrs.
