Fell in on Palestine in 2011 fishing a tournament on super bowl Sunday. Bout 7:00 a.m that morning with air temp at 32 degrees. Was bout 5 miles from boat ramp and had no extra clothes so I stayed out and tried to fight the cold. BIG MISTAKE!!! I actually started feeling warm after about an hour and realized hypothermia may have been trying to set in so made the run back to the truck to go home.

I fell into the famed "Farm 13" managed fishery in Florida in the mid 90s. We were fishing in the one area of timber in Farm 13 when a bad thunderstorm approached rapidly. We intended to move out of the timber and run to the ramp, but high winds began quickly, blowing the boat through timber while making it impossible to see submerged timber.
I wasn't able to control the boat very well with the TM in the high wind, so I had part of the big motor down on purpose as a rudder. It's lower unit caught on a tree while I was trying to guide the boat out of the timber (with TM) while standing at the bow. The boat stopped INSTANTLY, but I did not!
I tumbled head-first off the bow toward the water. I hit the water in a rolling motion and went completely under I'm told. There was ONE major problem - the submerged rotted-off tree trunk I hit solidly with my left buttock. The impact was so severe that my left leg was temporarily paralyzed. Luckily I was close to the boat and had a partner who could drag me onto the deck. It would not have been easy to reboard alone with my injury. I was unable to fish after that and had to end the planned 3 day trip. It was weeks before I could walk normally again and it took 3 months for the bruising to go away.

While fishing a club tournament on Granbury I hooked a good fish and called for the net. My partner hurried up and leaned out with the net, the boat leaned and I lost my balance and in I went. While going under I said "I can't swim" (I can't). I didn't let go of the rod and with his help was quickly holding on to the side of the boat. The fish was still on so he landed it while I was at the side of the boat. With great effort and with his help I got back in. It was winter and I had on insulated coveralls. I continued fishing and really wasn't cold. I won the tournament with 14.81 and we won team with 18.98. It was Anglers Christian Bass Club. This happened on Feb. 20, 1999.

They always say there are 2 types of fishermen, those who have fallen in and those who will. Fortunately for me I'm still in the 'those who will' category.

I was fishing Texoma, I had just waxed my boat, I was wearing those aqua socks shoes, we were fishing the Old Gainesville Boat Club point, there was a large group of folks up on the bank having a family reunion, they were watching us fish, well I stepped onto the bow of the boat for some reason and it was slick as snot, down and in the lake I went, my partner said he had never seen someone go in and out of the water that fast, I received a standing ovation from the family reunion.

Lake Fork mid 90's in March. Pushed off a limb, limb broke, went swimming. 53 degree water up Birch creek. Longest run back to Rainswood to get dry clothes.
Worse than that, fell through the ice in late eighties in Nebraska ice fishing. Remember looking up and seeing my buddies arm sticking through the hole in the ice. Not fun.

Only once. Saltwater fishing in Galveston Bay. We went out of April Fools Marina about mid-day. The is a restaurant there called the Top Water Grill. Beautiful weather so there was probably over 150 people there eating. Fell out of a shallow bay boat right in front of everyone. That was before everyone shot cell phone video or I am sure it would have been on uTube.

Few years back my brother and I were building a little dock in a pond in Winnie, TX for some old feller he knew that said hurricane Ike had blown away. Was about 33 Degrees that day and windy as all get out. I was in a little (very little, bout 8 ft) pero out in the pond with the cordless drill attaching the planks as my brother help them for me. While sitting side ways in the pero and leaning in as to use my weight to screw the planks on I slipped off the screw and barely caught myself from flipping myself and the pero over. As I leaned back quickly to steady the pero out I must have leaned a little to far back. He said I did a back flip and my feet hit before anything else. At least I dropped the drill in the boat so not ruin it like I just did my day. Instinct was to jump back in the boat but as soon as I grabbed the side of it I realized my big (6'5" 250lb) butt would just flip the boat. I swam as like Micheal Phelps to the bank which was about 30 ft away. Luckily my brother (5'8" 175lbs) had a smeedium (small/medium) sweat shirt in his truck so I stripped off my sweater and tshirt and grabbed his to warm me up. I still cant believe he didn't take any pics of me in his sweat shirt. That thing was tight as hell.
