How many guides would turn down $300-$500 for doing a 6 hour jug-line trip if the customer requests it and brings his own jug-lines? My guess is none.

That's kinda my point. That's how easy it is these days to get all the info u need. I guess I'm a dying breed but I can remember my grandfather, an honest man back when there was such a thing, tell his good friends, when they asked where he caught his fish, "Right in the corner of the mouth. " Simple times compared to today and by this forums account giant fish where EVERYWHERE stacked deep in them days.......but people still didn't tell everybody where they were fishing

It's no secret that the state and at the time world record ain't from twok. A simple texas all tackle record search will show what other lakes in Texas have and can produce. Commercial trotliners catch loads of trophy fish every year on a tx lake and gill netters do the same on another. Twok isn't the only lake in texas where multiple 60's can be caught on a trip, the internet just makes it seem that way. If y'all really think twok is the end all be all texas catfish lake, y'all need to get out more.

If we "get out" we lose wifi and become less of a fisherman.

And how many people who catch the big ones at Tawakoni using $1,000-$2,500 fish finders that show every fish in 3-D imagery, then lift a bait in the exact direction of the fish knowing about how far away it is, exactly what depth, and then act like great fishermen after they took every bit of the sport out of fishing? Might as well just call it catching. What sport is there in that since several people want to look down on jug liners and trot liners. Again, I am against commercial fishing, but see nothing wrong with people filling their freezer with fish for the year as long as they eat it all and it doesn't go to waste. Not everyone can live on the lake and fish every day. So when they go, they want food to bring back as well. And yes, I know you can buy it in the store, but lake caught catfish taste better than store bought. And it is part of a man's pride being able to provide for his family in the outdoors.

I release the majority of my big fish and have for over 15 years. I don't mind if others keep big fish that is there right. As for Tawakoni and being less big fish caught now than ten years ago, you can't be serious. The lake has always produced big blue cat, I just happen to live on the lake for six years and the big blues came out daily. In all honesty the blue cat fishing is as good and probably better than ever. I'm sure it has something to do with more people knowing how to catch them. Tawakoni is one of the lakes that has the right composition of forage base and the proper water PH or whatever. Until the law is passed the people who want to keep big fish will do just that. After the law is passed they will do the same thing. Live and let live and take care of your business and let others do as they please. Much like religion and politics, you are not going to change many peoples mind. You catch it so do what you want with it. Personally I don't need any additional mercury so if you are a little low on mercury consume some of the bigger blues and get that level up. Get it up and keep it up because once you get it, you got it.

I've been approached by TPWD folks coming off Twak doing surveys on the lake and getting our input on implementing a slot for the blues much like the one on Fork for LMBs. I vote yes to implement the slot anytime I can. With that said I jug line, trot line, and rod and reel fish on Twak A LOT. I've only kept one 20 pounder (it was all I caught that day) but other than that I never keep anything over 10. They just don't taste as good, but man are they fun to catch. I am no lake preservation expert so I can't speak to what is good or bad for the lake when it comes to these blue cats. I do respect the guides and this being their source of income. They put smiles on people's faces and great memories in their heads and get to make money doing it. Wish I could do that. But I don't agree with attacking someone who took his kids out and made the same memories but instead of taking money home he took home many, many, many meals. I think ya'lls time and efforts should be directed more towards TPWD and getting that slot implemented. You guides have a big voice on Twak and should use it to do what you think is best for the lake.

For the guy who says he cuts jug lines; if I ever see you doing that to one of mine I will pursue you as if you stole the grocery cart out of my wife's hands as she was leaving the store.

If I caught a big catfish and keep it I would gladly post a picture of it on here. Because I would be proud to have one like such. And if I kept it I would eat it and it wouldn't be wasted. Some need the fish for food, other enjoy it for sport. I'm pretty sure with all yall releasing your trophy fish and us keeping ours there is still plenty for future generations. After all you wouldn't like an over population.

Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.

Countless years worth of trophy fishing you just destroyed.

Y'all are freaking cry babies. Questioning how a man raises his kids when he's fishing with them tells me what kinda people are here. What i think is funny is how these forums are full of keyboard warriors. Questioning how a man raises their kids, face to face, would only happen once with 90% of the people I know. .... but on the internet scum can hide and get away with it.

Y'all want more laws and regulations awesome. .... won't stop anything. If guides can go eater slaying and limit with however many people they want to take that day then populations are not hurting. You aren't going to catch 5 over 60 every trip or every other trip or maybe not even every 10th trip...... it's fishing. I think people believe so much in their fishing ability that if they aren't slaying them then the fish aren't there.

You want to help beloved twok? Stop people from singing as loud as they can to everybody that will listen about how great it is. Stop people from posting every single big fish they catch just to brag to a forum of people they don't know.
could not agree more blues

Ive said many times that the internet has increased "information" ten fold...Think about it used too you had to get a lake map unfold it study it figure out where you wanted to go or see where spots are they heard others talk about.. hmmm now you can hit google earth and pin point areas...GPS puts ys on the spot and gives ya a trail to follow...who ever was attacking folks with electronics obviously has not not saved every nickel & dime they could for 2 years to get a new Gen 2 Hd 8....I can see them all and love it!! hooked Internet provides answers in seconds that used to take weeks or months google it or ask.com concerning tackle tactics presentations....youtube videos... how to catch / how to find / how to Hack them when your done....It all comes down to me in the end...personally i dont eat big fish... I do support CPR 100%....I respect your lakes and have never cleaned a fish from them and dont plan on it.. I can catch all the eaters i want where i live.......so when folks keep hacking those trophy blues and ya wonder why i cant catch one dont complain to me..... violin

If it ain't broke don't fix it...but go ahead and work on it anyway.....
