I have used a ratchet type cargo tie-down strap connected to the bow eye and run across the bow seat to the hand hold on the motor cover ( tilted up ) and pulled tight. I throw the mooring cover over over the boat and make sure it is stretched tight so no "ponding" occurs. I also pad areas where the cover comes into hard contact with areas of the boat to eliminate chafing, such the tops of windshields and seats. This has worked well for me for years.

Everyone is on the right track. To add extra support I used a "T" fitting on each end and added about 6 to 8 inches of PVC to each side of T fitting. This gives you some stability.

I built mine outta 1/2" pvc. Tie cross piece to steering wheel. Worked great
|
