The original was tied with one pheasant church window feather, as Les described. I bought a bag of them at a local craft store. It wasn't much later that I started tying them with Indian hen feathers because of the different colors available. Although I still tye them using both types feathers, I prefer the hen feathers. They are generally less stiff than the pheasant feathers and provide more action in the water. All that being said....any variant of the Briminator that still catches fish is the right one to use.  Here are a couple I tied up for this spring, plus a deer hair diver (just for fun)

With that big collar and a loooong strip, that bug should dive deep. It had been many years since I tied deer hair flies. I have so many flies laying around I've lost count...
