Abso-frickin-lutely.

I saw 2 of them just that size back there on the same day. I suspect they were nesting. I was on the trolling motor and when I got to close with the boat one of them came into the water and swam towards me. I was still pretty far away and just moved on.

I fished a tourny back in the mid 90's and seen one laying on the bank. There was a house up on the hill and it looked like a decoy because it had no movement. We fished normally and when we got about 4ft away in the water he came. He laid just below the surface and minded his own business. It had to be 8ft tip to tail. Have not seen another since.

There are gators on Choke that would eat that one. And a lot of em. Quiet a few on Coleto Creek and Lake Corpus Christi too. In fact, I don't think I've ever fished a day on Choke without seeing at least a couple.

Back in about '08, when the lake was full, I went way up a creek looking for beds. The creek was fairly deep, but no more than about 15' wide, so the boat took up most of it. Finally got to a point where I could turn around and headed back out. About halfway out I noticed a gator, medium sized one, probably 8-10', on the side of a high bank right next to the water. I didn't see him on the way in and must have passed within 5-6' of him/her, about as high as my midsection. They don't often attack humans, but this one could have taken me out without me ever having seen him coming. Hugged the other bank on the way out....pucker factor was high.

Saw that big un in duck four years ago on my first trip to Fork. Was way in the back, flipping some grass mats. Saw one mat move and figured it was a fish. Boy was I wrong. A frikin monster came out of that mat I was fishing and climbed on a lay down log. Have a pic on facebook, but don't know an easy way to post. Had to be 10+++.
