Sounds like you have the right idea, Ben. Fish the smaller water and let the creeks settle down a bit.

Hopefully the weather holds for the 17th trip. The warmer temps should only help the fishing.

Super Bowl is Sunday

I'm pretty sure the Yegua is loaded up with White Bass right now. Problem is the water is too high and fast to catch them. When things finally settle down it's on like Donkey Kong. popcorn

I observed three people with limits of white bass on Saturday at Irwin Bridge. Lots of big females bass in those limits, about 30 vehicles parked along the roadway. Newman Bottom is still closed to vehicle traffic but you can walk in from the county road, be prepared to pack out a limit of WB, those waters have had very few fisherman on them this past week. Call Nails Creek for more information at 979-289-2392 #0.

The best bait to use when the water is muddy and flowing pretty good on the Yegua.

1. Red head jig with a yellow curly tail grub.
2. Road Runners.
3. Little George.
4. Small Rattle Traps
5. Rooster Tails

I dont use any of these myself, but this is what I see anglers catching whites on in situations like we have today. The jig with the curly tail probably produces the best numbers and it is the cheapest bait to lose in the hang ups.

TFTR bass related, glad to hear there's a few females up that far already... thumb

Was planning to go there yesterday after work, and at least fish a couple of hours.
But had to work 10 hours instead of 8... bang
And needed my rest today... tired

But hope to have a 2 days off, next weekend.
If so, I'll probally be down there both days...

I went to Newman's and fished downstream from the bridge to a ways past the low water crossing this afternoon. I used a red head jig with a yellow curly tail grub and a small rattle trap. I caught nothing. Most people I talked to had caught nothing or one small male.

I drove over to Irwin Bridge and tried for a few minutes but didn't catch anything. Talked to a few people they had caught 5 or 6.

Water was muddy. Slightly clearer at Irwin Bridge. Wind was blowing out of the Northwest today.

TFTR J-Moe...
And was wondering if the gate is open to the lower parking area yet, at Irwin Bridge?
