try these 12 inches below 3 splitshot. best trout bait there is. and they can be used many times. very durable. you wont have to change the kids bait after it falls off or is eaten.

They did away with the trout stamp a while back. Used to be $7 for a freshwater trout stamp.

Not many reports - anyone hitting the trout yet?

I'm shutting down the office Monday afternoon to see if we can find some...will post some pics if we catch anything.

Try the Super Duper lure. It looks like a belt loop with a hook dangling off the end of it, but brother does it ever catch rainbows!

caught and released 25 or so. lures are the ticket. I used a panther martin. super duper works too. go to where the people are fishing. move around and try diiferent spots for 20 minutes. they would bite a while then stop . then they would really hit for a time. some guys did decent with a flyrod.I was there from 1 till 4 . good luck

I fished Bethany this morning, trout were pathetically small compared to the ones i used to catch up north, the website claims they are "adult" trout, but they were practically fingerlings, needless to say, i was disappointed. The biggest I saw caught was not over 7 inches long. They were biting however, everyone seemed to be able to catch their fair share, over two thousand were dumped in so its not exceedingly hard. After Bass fishing however, these trout fight like a sunfish, but if your one of those fly fisherman go for it, cause there is plenty of very small fish to be caught!

I was at the stocking in Boerne a few years ago and the warden was giving out warnings for "releasing" the trout. I honestly do not know if the law is the same now but at that time you had to keep all trout that you landed. It was explained to us that they were put in the water to be caught and eaten, not released. The catch and fight plus the time out of water before being put back is too hard on those little stockies. The warden also wrote tickets for a few guys that were abusing the possession limits. I believe they were sharing their fish but not really. It was actually 2 guys fishing and 3 guys drinking beer; the wardens counted like 21 fish between them all but alas... only two fishing licenses. Idiots. Anyway, just wondering if the must-keep law is still in effect. I wouldn't know cause I always eat the first five volunteers I catch.
