What have you guys done in the ways of the best method to rig up a stump anchor. I am talking something I can attach to my anchor trolley and the other end slips over a stump (3 to 12 inches in diameter). I need it to be stretchy to take waves but strong enough to hold in wind. Just seeing if there was any ideas out there before I go mad scientist in the garage later.

I've read about these before but never rigged one up. Looks like it would be a safe approach in the yak though..

I really like that idea. If you have ever tried to tie off on a stump is seems every insect on that stump thinks they are finally rescued and tries to jump into the kayak. This way I don't have to get close to it!

I use one of the black plastic wood clamps. I attached line to one of the handles and the other end of the line has a clip on it. I attach the clip to my anchor trolley ring and then grab ahold of a branch with the clamp when necessary. If the aforementioned branch is too large for my clamp then I can just wrap the line around it and grab the line with the clamp. It works great and was cheap to make.

Terry,

When I bought my Hobie I got the anchor trolley. It has the normal line connected to bungee cord material. The "hoops" are then where I connect 2-4' piece of rope. I wrap the rope around the stump/ branch and the bungee stretches with the wind. If possible visit Mariner and they can hook you up. If this part is not available anymore just put a bungee cord on your trolley and use it that way. Not sure if that is what you are asking, but hey I try to use my very limited experience to help. I know I got lots of help from this forum.

Here lately I've just been using my fish grip, the Blakemore would be much better though.
