Do not follow boat lanes chip when in little caney unless lake is at full pool.... It's a danger zone... Stumps directly on the red line of boat lanes chip.... There is a lane that you can run all the way to qual hollow but you have to know how to run it cuz if your off a foot to either side you will be in big time trouble! You are exactly right Mike..you can run just little while from main lake, then after that BEWARE there are stumps and I mean widowmakers right in the boat lane. If you dont know this area EXTREMELY WELL..PLEASE DO NOT RISK IT.
In order to catch Big Fish..Sometimes you gotta Suffer.

I was ruining it when the lake was down 7.5'. After seeing all the stumps right down the pipe on the boat lanes chip, I can't believe I used to run that... Never again!

Do not trust the boat lane chip with the water this low. I have a new lower unit from running the Mustang to Chicken Ridge lane 3 1/2 weeks ago. The chip is a great product when water is up, but not now. Too low. I did see the river authority a couple weeks ago checking buoys on marked lanes. Fished this weekend and hit a few at idle speed where I never have before. My butt puckers every time I nick one now.

sounds like now would be a good time to create a new boat lane chip when lake is say 5-6' low.

I was there last weekend for the first time in 10 years, and Boy did it look different. I stayed at chaney point where I used to camp all the time. And that cove used to not have any visible trees/stumps, and the entire thing was covered, wasnt surprised when I felt a big bump, there was only about a couple yards inbetween all the stumps and the bank, at some point I was in 2 feet of water trying to avoid stumps. Had to beach the boat cause the dock was out of the water. Just glad I didnt hit anything with my motor. Didnt end up exploring the lake too much, but I know that the large cove straight northwest of Chaney (cant remember the name) was also more stumpy than I remembered, the back half was pretty dried up.
