Ole mother Fork has me swearing off fishing one day and then can't wait to go back the next.
Did something different last night and fished Cypress from 9-1. Didn't catch anything big but we did catch 10-12. If I go to Fork day or night and catch 4, I'm happy cause any cast could Be that DD were all looking for. fish

I've said this before and I'll say it again. This time of year when Fork slows down because of water temperature; I learned that if you fish it in the evenings when the shadows are just starting to get long @ around 6:30 on until just before dark it can be some of the most productive fishing you can do. I found out that this could be done on most any lake just by sitting on the back porch @ our old place on Caney Lake in Louisiana and watching how active the fish get in the evening. At Fork my most productive method was just pulling up in a larger cove and shutting off the big motor and just listen for them to start breaking on shad. I'd go to them with a 1/4 oz. chrome blue Ratl-Trap and catch 3 to 4 fish or more most of the time on back to back cast and just as soon as they stopped I'd throw a finesse worm into the area and maybe pick up another fish or two. When that died down I'd just sit and listen for another active school and do it all over again. I'd usually get 2 to 3 rounds out of them before they shut off about 30 minutes before dark..my two cents.

We fished last weekend in the 25-30 mph winds and it was tough. The funny thing is for two weeks me and my cousin plotted out and decided where to fish and what to fish with. 2 days = 0 fish and we know Fork. Funny thing is that each of our spots had Guides on or around them. We saw one Guide boat catch one fish. We strictly fished deep water and graphed fish all days. It really messed with our juju. We threw drop shots, C-Rigs, cranks, big worms - everything in every color and still zeroed. I still refuse to give up on Fork.

Aint nothing like driving 2.5hrs to eat a sandwich on the lake. I've done that.

But I've also been there when there was an acre of giant largemouth schooled up and I was in the middle of em snagging like a mugg

Fork has a way of screwing with your confidence. And just about the time you are ready to say "I quit" you get one of those days you be telling the story for the rest of your life. Unless your name is Mark Pack.

Sometimes a lakes fish population declines like Fork's has. It's hard to catch that one fish per 7 acres of water thats why you sometimes see a guide post one or two pictures of the same fish and that day they caught 30+ fish between 3 and 5 lbs

I seriously doubt the fish population at Fork has declined. I think the TTBC proved that ten fold. Its a tough week or two here and things will be better. Probably more self induced by the anglers than any issue with lake and the fish.

For the angler that visits Fork three or four times a year it has got a hell of a lot harder to catch fish. I have been fishing Fork for a long time. I have had miserable results the last few years . Learning to figure it out without grass has been tuff for me.

I am there a lot and it beats me on a regular basis so i feel the same pain all are complaining about here. I do think the fish are there though.

Fished for about 7 hours yesterday (Friday)--not a single bite. Fork can be mean!
