I think I'm done with Fork now. I can catch fish anywhere else I go. I haven't been skunked anywhere else, but it's the norm for me at Fork. Fished all day without a bite today. Maybe someday when I can afford a guide trip I'll give her another chance, but for now she's all yours guys. Goodbye Fork.

Fork was pretty tough on me yesterday. I caught fish but not like I expected to. Hang in there and it will get better.

You make it sound so easy...... rolfmao....I think I threw the tackle box at them. Hell I would have thrown a Flying Lure at them if I had one.... rolfmao

I fished Fork almost all day today, had a bite on a crank on my 3rd cast in deep water, fish came unbuttoned at the boat.......... that was it for the day. Tough, tough day.

On a funny note, I was wrapping up the day fishing a deep underwater structure, a community hole and 2 guys pull up. I am cranking this structure and I notice they start drop shotting, and they are killing em, I mean 8-10 fish in 30 minutes, 3-4 pounders, so I switch to drop shot, and there are fish everywhere on the graph, they're stacked, and I cannot get one to bite to save my life. So I'm getting frustrated asking myself "what am I doing wrong here. I switched to drop shot". After about 10 fish, I stop and just pay attention and notice......... they're fishing with live bait. I decide I have had enough of the grind, and head home. rolfmao

like a beautiful woman....tantalizingly beautiful at times and cold as ice others.

we've all been there, it happens...don't give up

whats frustrating is when you are in a good spot ....looking at those beautiful bold arches on a hump or roadbed on your graph,...see the streaks running through the baitfish pods, you can see the frenzy going on down there...but they just don't want all that artificial stuff your throwing down there....makes me just wanna give up and take the cast net to the marina, grab a big old wad of live shad...and give them a try.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. ~John Buchan

I have some tough days this year, but today was the best one so far. Learning to fish structure is taking me awhile, but I was rewarded with a few nice ones today including my new PB - the fish where there most of the day, but just bit for an hour or so when jt was hot as hell. But I finally caught some off shore and that will give me the confidence to keep trying. Lake fork can be very rewarding

^^^^^ this, today was my first day solo on Fork, it takes time to build up a milk run of spots, if they're not there, on to the next spot, when you find em, you gotta get em fired up...... if you can, as we have seen lately, it's like nothing else.

I fished Fork yesterday from 6:30a-6:30p. Put in on the east arm and fished there until noon then broke for lunch then trailered to the west side and fished 1-6:30.

I caught 8 fish on the east arm, caught all but 1 before 10am. I caught 3 slots between 5 and 8 pounds early on a buzzbait. Found a few fish on a road bed after that and caught 3 on a crankbait, 2 good unders and 1 good slot, in 10-14 feet of water. I caught 2 more on a hump on a c-rig before I went to lunch.

After lunch the wind switched to the north for like an hour, then back to the south then to east northeast, and the bite slowed down for me. I did end up catching 10 or 12 more. I simply moved shallow and started flipping docks and wood near deeper water.

I never graphed any deep fish (deeper than 15 feet) that looked like they were positioned to bite. So I did not do any deep fishing.

Sometimes you have to just go fishing and forget that everyone says you need to be deep or you to do this or do that on Fork....

Sometimes you have to go to small lakes just to get your confidence back. My confidence is always high because I only fish small lakes

Guys I feel your pain. We can catch them one day and then go back and struggle to boat a fish.

The thing about Fork is, the next cast could very well be the one! Fork is a 2.5 hour drive for us and we do catch more fish consistently in our local lake. We have been skunked more than once at Fork. But we're heading back up there today--as soon as the wife wakes up.
