I would rather fish Fork deep in the Summer when it is 100 degrees than in the Spring when they are on the beds. For me it's not as crowded and I catch a lot more big fish. i have found that you just have to cover more spots and try different things at each spot. Like last year, me and my son stopped at one of our spots and couldn't get bit on a DD22 but changed to a XD10 and caught around a dozen fish between 4 to 7 lbs, next spot they wouldn't hit a crankbait they wanted a C-Rig 10 worm. Next stop, back to a crankbait and 6 fish between 5 and 10 lbs. Go figure...

Only taking your deep baits is a good move. There have been lots of time I went fishing and only took a particular bait or type of bait to fish with just so I would be forced to use only that one thing. It eliminated the temptation to go back and do something I was comfortable with when I wasn't having any success. I got better for doing it.

For one I do need to learn more on how to use my depth finder. Determine the difference between all the fish species and schooling bass. So I am gonna research that over the next couple of days. Maybe that will help more on my search for those deep fish
Thanks for all the help
Ps I just ordered the lake for supper map by martins who knows it may help also

My father in law and I went with Gary Paris on 6/2 and man did we catch em on the 10XD, caught a few on a c-rig 8 inch recon worm but the big XD was the winner. Its a bit of a wrist work out but it was well worth it. 20 fish and some in the 7-8 lb range. One thing I saw was that the big LMBs were usually stuck tight to the bottom and the sandbass were more towards the surface. Just food for thought.

look for spots that will most likely hold fish on a map. if you don't already have navionics, I would recommend getting it! they have an app for $10 if you don't have electronics compatible with it. it's great for finding spots and staying on them! drive around the spot and drop marker buoys when you mark fish on your electronics. back off and work the area thoroughly with a variety of baits. remember! largemouth usually stack horizontally on the bottom while sandies stack vertically! throw football jigs, Carolina rigs, deep divers, and t-rigs. try to stick with the bread and butter when it comes to color. shad patterns, green pumpkin, watermelon red, and june bug! hope this helps!!! goodluck!

hire a good guide..one that will teach you what to look for both on your electronics and on maps.. a whole day spent learning what to look for and what your looking at, followed by a day of practicing what you learned will help A tremendously! it would be money well spent.

The CD for Martins map is an awesome addition to the map. I would recommend it also. You can zoom in on areas, print copies and take them to the lake to make notes on if you choose to do so.

I know James Caldemeyer, and Mark Pack run Lowrance. I think both of theses guides are really good deep water guides. I am not sure which guides run Hummingbird maybe they can chime in.

I am not in any way saying theses are the only ones that can give you the information you want. Theses are two that you will be satisfied with. I know Lance Vick and David Ozzio are good deep water guides on Fork. I would just say call them and ask for your self, they can be the best guide on the lake but if your personalities do not work together then it won't work. Tell them what you are looking for and see if their answer is what you want. just my .02
