There were 300 oyster boats working out of Seadrift last year. Most were out of state, mostly Louisiana and Alabama. They cared not one bit about taking everything they could. Like closing the gate after the horse ran off, they closed a lot of the bay this year.

Some of them were bonafide knuckleheads too. Top prize were the idgits from Mississippi that pumped 100 gallons of gas into the bilge of their boat then blew it up. Nobody died but they should have.

Kumamotos will ruin you from wanting to eat a gulf oyster ever again. They may be smaller but they taste fantastic. They grow them in the Pacific Northwest as well.

I do like some chargrilled oysters too!

+1 for Drago's Charbroiled in NOLA. It's the only way I'll eat them.

I like them fried only. Tried the half shell thing back in my USAF days after numerous beers at a place in Lynn Haven, Florida. Once was enough.
