I have a 12 gallon gas tank that has a small (2 inch) crack on the top. A new one is $100. I've heard people say that nothing will stick to the plastic. Has anyone here successfully repaired one? Would automotive fiberglass work?

Welding it with a plastic stick would work but for a 12 gallon tank why not buy a new one?

Ethanol and fiberglass is a no.

Plastic welding is the best bet. It depends on the crack but normally it isn't difficult. We do plastic welding on a variety of different plastics. PM me and we can discuss it. I hear you I am cheap too!

Wonder if a small fiberglass patch kit would work on plastic? Seems if you roughed up the surface to be repaired with sandpaper, the fiberglass would work.
