About 100 feet out from my dock on stumps along the creek channel. You're right, any of those areas you mentioned provide ambush points, and that's where the better fish will be found. It's not an easy lake to fish because of the pressure, but very rewarding when you find the right pattern.

I hook one last summer @ 11:30 PM and she almost pulled my arm off from shore. I was just killing some time, boy did I learn a lesson on night fishing at Fork. Now jig and pig AND a full moon. OH it was a 12 plus.

You guys are so lucky to have a lake like that to live by. The only true big bass lake near Houston is Fayette County, and it's a power plant lake. Conroe is a boat-fest and of course T-Bend and Rayburn are good, but nothing with the reputation like Fork. To have a chance at the bass of a lifetime each time you go out is unbelieveable.
Thanks for info on night fishing. I'm heading up Sunday for my first trip to Fork and I'm getting so pumped up I can't think straight.

Great Bass pics and docks too. All these long lost sons you have left behind, you should be ashamed. I think I am your long lost sister, when can I visit?

Mudcatt,
Good luck on your first trip to Fork. If you want to catch numbers, fish a wacky worm up around the flats in 3-6' of water. If you want a big fish, fish a lighter weight jig/craw combination out on the creek in 10-15' of water close to these spawning flats. Hope to see some photos upon your return.
RedTopLady,
Come on down and join the crowd! I already have four older sisters, so I don't think one more is going to hurt. We're headed up this weekend, so I'll have a report for everyone by next Tuesday when I return.
Good luck to all,
Fork Man

Thanks Fork Man. Numbers are fun but I want to say hello to the big ladies. If I can top my best 8 lbs. I'll be a happy camper. We're staying at The Marina so we'll start on the west side coves. I like the way Little Caney looks too. Any night time suggestions over there ???

Mudcatt,
Be careful on that lake if you fish at night since you don't know how to run it. If you do night fish, the mouth of Little Caney around the grass beds would be a good place to start. For a big fish, throw a 8" texas rigged lizard with real light weight, 1/16th or lighter. Those western coves you mentioned could be good as well. Fish the back 1/3 of the creeks with the lizard or lightweight jig/craw combination. There's not as much thick hydrilla in those areas, so focus on the creek channel around stumps on the outside bends.
Catch a big one.

Here ya go Fork Man, caught out of your own backyard. This 8 lb'er hit a spinnerbait in 12 ft. of water within the first hour of fishing. A cool front moved in later and made for some tough fishing. We even managed a few hawgs night fishing on a jig and craw up Little Mustang Creek. What a nice lake indeed. Thanks for the help.

SkeeterSteve, maybe if you put that wacky worm down every now and then, you will catch bigger fish at Fork. Just an idea.

Mudcatt,
Way to go!!! Glad you had a good trip to Fork. That's a great fish. There are a lot of people fishing Fork this week that would like to have one like that. I had a 7.85 last weekend, but didn't fish much as I had about 25 people at the house. Hope you make it back again soon.

Mudcatt...great looking fish, thanks for sharing. Fork Man...sounds like you had a huge party, 25 people at the house? Didn't leave you any fishin' time? Hope I have the opportunity to fish Fork again soon!
