I did a lot of research and went with the Canon A520. Check out www.slickdeals.net they usually have deals on digital cameras. 3-4 megapixels should be plenty for your needs listed, but if you are going to be enlarging pics then 4-5 would be better. The A520 is 4 megapixels and I enlarge thepics frequently for architecture projects and they have turned out great. I wouldnt spend too much especially for taking it on a boat because accidents do happen! There are planty of camera review sites on the net and they are helpful. If you have any other questions, feel free to e-mail me.

I'll second the Canon A520. great pictures and it runs on AA batteries. I can squeeze a few extra shots if I borrow the batteries from my GPS or even the Gameboy Advance batteries from my kids.

You can even find the Canon A510 for under $150. 3M pixels only but they are for good for up to 5"x7" prints easy.

Probably wouldn't want to spend more than that for a camera I would take in a boat or carry around at worksites.

I've got a Wal-Mart special, Kodak, for about $150. Had it about a year now. It shoots good pictures. Even got some good ones of Willie Nelson singing in Oklahoma last night laugh .

Kodak makes a great camera for the novice. I purchased a DX7590 about 9 months ago after much looking and I am thrilled with it. Very versatile, I can take great live action photos of my son playing baseball, and it will also take great portraits, close-ups, low light, you name it. Even took some superb photos of Fireworks last summer. 5mp, Very easy to use, navigate, download pics, etc. Prints great photos too and will enlarge easily up to 8 x 10. I paid $310.00 for it and consider it money well spent

So does that (DX7590) mean you have a Kodak? I think mine is an Easy- Share or something like that. And the more I think about it, I think we got it on sale for about $200, normally $300. But yeah, it does everything you said, 5mp, good pics etc... cheers

See http://www.dpreview.com/ and http://www.steves-digicams.com/ for what would be good and in your price range. Get a camera that runs on rechargeable AA batteries, not a proprietary battery made by the manufacturer of the camera.

Many digital cameras no longer have an optical viewfinder you look through, all they have is the LCD screen. Those can be hard to see in bright sunlight.

The steves-digicam site has a "The Best Cameras" section, and in that look under "4 Megapixel Consumer" and "Entry-Level Consumer". Those should all be good cameras for $120-200.

I love my Canon A310 digital. It was under $200 and will take 3 minute movies with sound. The photos are excellent and print very well on photo paper. I have had no problems with going up to 8 X 10 in size. I made albums for my son's prom dates and as well as for my grandson's birthday and Christmas.

The AA batteries are convenient and cheap. I did and do recomment investing in a $20 15 minute charger. Mine came with an adapter for your vehicle which is very handy.
