Hey guys! Is this going to work here or should I move it down to the bottom step? Its only for down-imaging, and I fish lots of shallow water. I'm afraid I might pop it off if I move it down and bump the bottom.

Thanks for your help!

John

That's where mine is located, go any lower and you might break it off.

Thanks. Do you think it is too close to the prop?

That's lower than mine is and it works fine. My shallow water readings aren't as clear as some others I've seen, but I really only use it for deep water anyway. Anything over 6' and mine works fine. I fish Fork most of the time, so I mounted it 4-5" higher than yours is showing to eliminate any possibility of it getting knocked off if I roll over a stump.

That's where mine is mounted, and it's works like a champ.

Mine is mounted in same place. Why can't I see how deep of water I'm in after I get on a plane?

Because that transducer isn't in the water when you're on plane. You either need a shoot-thru-hull transducer or to mount your transom transducer at or below pad level to get on-plane readings. Of course, that's tough for bass fishermen since you'll lose it as soon as you hit a stump if you mount a transom transducer that low.

I have an HDS-5 at the console, and my 2D transducer is a shoot-thru-hull while I keep my LSS transducer on the transom. Works good to get high-def while idling and still get depth readings on plane.
