Any of the places where rocks are now will hold cats. Try the rocks off I-30. Fish about 2-4 ft deep with punch bait and you will catch plenty.

Now that's a mess of good eatin!

i can give you directions to a pretty good spot. Get on East 80 (if you are coming from the dallas area). Exit off 460 You will see a gas station with a subway attached to it on your left) and take a left and follow 460 until it dead ends at 740. Take another left. You have 2 choices that lead to the same spot at this point. Choice #1 as soon as you take the left on 740 you will come to a fork. On the left is Ray hubbard drive. Go down RH drive and eventually you come to an abandoned bridge. On the left side is the main part of the lake, but on the right there is a small cove (i guess it is a cove). That cove is kind of sheltered from the wind and is full of nice flat land very suitable for bank fishing.

Option 2 get you to the same place, but on the other side of the cove and is the area i have personally fished. We went sunday afternoon and landed 12 fish, but we missed a lot more. This was the middle of the day too so im willing to wager the bite picks up in the evening and early morning. When you come to the fork off 740 take the right side instead and stay on 740 a few miles. 740 /bois d'arc eventually runs into a 4 way stop. on the left is LRH Drive, Take the left stay left the whole time. You will start to see homesites being developed, just be careful, the roads here have potholes. You will see the sign that says bridge ends in x amount of ft. Eventually you will see the bridge with "Welcome to the dark side " graffiti". The cove will be on the left, the main lake on you right.

Cons: Potholes, lots of trash and beer bottles in some area (come on people), can get somewhat crowded (there was a family driving dirt bikes when we decided to leave) and not much shade and finally the fish are on the small side resulting in a lot of missed chances.

Pros: Constant bites and plenty of chances to catch fish. They bite off everything, worms, frozen shad, punchbait. You name it, they will eat it. Put some light tackle and small hooks and the kids will have a blast. If you go with option 2 you can get down in the cove and loop around to your left, because of the receeding water levels you can get to the other side (wear shoes that you can get a little muddy)and eventuall be facing the hill you just came down. The bank here is flat, wide open with no brush and IT HAS TONS OF SHADE!!!!! Put a chair there and just kick back and relax with the gentle breeze. That shade lasts through 1 or 2 pm. Also that shady are has shallow water full of smaller sized eating catfish. Also there is not a whole lot of brush. Between 4 of us we only lost one line to snags. Finally the people that go there were friendly. There were kids and a couple of people on john boats. Speaking of boats we encountered 3 all day. Also if you are having no luch, the part where the main lake begins has plenty of rocks where you can walk and try your luck.

Sorry for the detailed post, but i know it can be tough to find a spot where the kids can be safe and get some action. I like option 2 because the bite was constant, the water was shallow, and THE SHADE!!!!!!
