I've never seen a snake that I'm afraid of...of course I'm scared to death of the ones I can't see. :-)

cheers

I've killed snakes and kept them as pets (including a rattlesnake I had for a month which has now been eaten and it's skin tanned) I don't see why people feel the need to kill each one they see, educate yourself on the species in your area if you are so conserned about them. Hell rattlesnakes are defensive they won't try to peruse you. he only time mine struck at me is when I would be trying to piss him off intentionally. With that being said, walking outdoors you don't see them all the time, but once you do its way easier to walk away than trying to kill it and possibly get bit. I understand killing it if it seems to be a danger you or your family just can't seem to stay away from.

I live on a big creek. There's snakes here, all kinds. I found a copperhead on the back porch about a month ago. He's gone.
My grown son got bit last year, spent the night at the hospital. He didn't see the snake and I couldn't find it afterward.
Had a neighbor's son that was bitten last year as well.
If I see them, and their poisonous, they're dead. If they're not, live and let live.
Watch were you step, look around good before you pick something up, and don't go walking around out there with sandals on.

"..The pleasantist angling is to see the fish
Cut with her golden oars the silver stream,
And greedily devour the treacherous bait.

most of the poisonous water snakes are cotton mouths. They are black, pretty thick of body and have skinny tails.

we had them real thick in a meadow I once rented with a live stream for our horses. Come out of the stream and would sneak right up on you. Killed a bunch. There is another black water snake that looks similar. Killed them to because it was hard to tell the difference.

I was bit by one of the non-poisonous variety when I was a kid and my arm swelled up pretty good.

Sorry, not going to take the time to fool with 'identifying one'...if you can - YOUR TOO DAMN CLOSE TO IT!
See it, kill it. End of problem.
God Bless....I mean it, just abhor snakes, liars and thieves!
