Looking for a lake within 2 hours of DFW that is not low and doesn't have many water hazards. Just looking to break in a new boat and do a little fishing. Thanks.

Lots of good "scenery" walking around White Rock Lake. Lake is full of water. 10hp limit.

8-1/2 low. Spillway ramp is closed. Not sure about Grandpappy. I had a reservation at Preston Bend and cancelled because of the low water. I have camped up there evey year in May and this is the first time I have cancelled for low water. Lake is OK at this level on the lower end just be real careful up around Platters or up in the rivers or creeks.

I have been launching at Highport with no issues. Its about 8.5 feet low, but as long as you watch what your doing you will be fine.

it's 3 hours, but Caddo.. It's nice because you're able to get out of the wind... It's expected to have 15-20 mph wind this weekend and unless you're staying tight to the dam ( Lewisville or Ray Roberts for example ) you're going to deal with waves bouncing you around which will vary up your speed.

I broke in my Skeeter in by running up and down the Cypress River @ Caddo lake. You can fish the big lake in front of Potters point, Big Green break, Little green break.

i assume your new boat has a GPS on it so you won't get lost.

just an idea...

Cypress is wide open and you can catch some fish. Pines is awesome, but has stumps up north.
