I need some ideas on how to attach my finished milk crate to my yak. I have a 9.5’ Featherlite and I want to put the crate in front of me. Obviously bungees will work but I am wanting something more along the lines of a track system. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Thanks Zombie. I was thinking something a little less permanent. But thanks for the idea. Gorilla Glue is awesome stuff.

Seems that putting the crate in front of you would impede your sight and casting.

Does your kayak have flush mount rod holders behind the seat?

If you're wanting a track system then I'd look at YakAttack.

You could always mount a scotty base to the front, and then put one of the bait tables onto the base mount. From there zip tie your milk crate to the bait table. That way you could still manage the stability of the crate while being able to install and remove very quickly.

Heres a link to the product that I am trying to describe.

Tracks and bungee r a good way IMO.
Wilderness puts them on their new boats on tankwell Sides.

This is a sink, right? I would suggest maybe thinking about a soft bag up front with most of your commonly needed items and then storing the "just in case" stuff in bags and shoving under the front deck - that is what I do with my sinks - made a simple platform and bungee the bag to it. I can't imagine working around a crate in the front but maybe I am not getting your idea.

I'm making a crate that will have a hinge door that opens to me where I can store tackle utility boxes and a small dry storage bag I picked up from Cabelas the other day. Clips on the top to clip in my rod for when I am tying on a new lure. The hinged door has plexiglass on it so it's flat and a workable surface. No rod holders, I have two flush holders behind me. I am putting plier holders on the side though. I don't think that the crate will impede my casting/paddling too much. Since this is such a small yak this will be about all I put on it.

Thanks for all the ideas and input. I appreciate it.

Try velcro with an adhesive backing. That's how I attach my tackle tray to the bottom of my Native Ultimate 14.5. You can buy pretty wide velcro. After one full season last year and some outings this year, the velcro shows no sign of loosening.

If this is what you have you should already have some eyelets to bungee clip your gear down in front & behind U.
if not they are cheep n easy to install. hit any reputable yak shop for eyelets and some small hooks to secure your gear.

velcro can work fine on the cool floor but in the heat of the summer will likely come unglued & just make a mess up top.

check out this install...

I'd put a couple of rod holders in the deck behind the cockpit. Then I'd start thinking the milk crate is for milk not kayak fishing tackle and work up someting that slips inside the sit in. I know guide that fishes with a pocket full of jig heads and a couple packets of Glulp baits. Maybe you really don't need all that stuff.
