Would ya'll mind sharing some information about where i can find gar from the bank at lavon? I've heard they can be pretty active around the dam but I dont know what bait or lure to try? Thanks for your help!

I've heard people say you can catch them at Mckinney's Towne Lake or in Wilson creek right next to Towne Lake. Not sure if its true. I think people caught those gar on the discharge side of the dam at Lavon but I could be wrong, and I don't think you can even fish there anymore.

Just about now, the spotted gar should be spawning on shallows. Although typically the lake is a lot higher, and they would be among the shoreline brush, but with the lake so low, I'm not sure. Typically, I've seen the all over the place this time of year.

highway 78 past wylie the east for trinity river connects from lavon spillway to lake ray hubbard, TONS of them in that river you see them coming up the surface all day, i used to bass fish in there all the time when i was younger and lived in rowlett, i promise they are in there.

you can still fish at the damn, you jsut cant drive across it anymore.
