Staying at Jamaica on the canals this weekend. Anyone ever have any success fishing the green lights at night? What kind of rig should I use to have a chance at the occasional reds and specs? What species can typically be caught (if anything)?

I fished a small canal around sportsman's road one time and Smoked'em in the lights. Sand trout on every cast with a about a 10:1 on a really nice specks. Limited on reds as well but there weren't nearly as many trout when i was there. you'll be able to tell when you approach the lights if theres a red swimming around. I was just using popping cork w a live shrimp thrown way past the light not spook the fish. brought it about 5ft from the green circle and popped a few times, seemed to be the ticket for me. good luck!

White jigs or plastics, DOA shrimp, small topwaters &/or jerkbaits. throw right outside of the brighter lighted areas. Fish hang out there most of the time. Live freelined shrimp work well too.

We have a beach house right outside of Galveston in Bayou Vista and everything that they're saying is exactly right, the free lined shrimp with a popping cork is what typically works best for me
